My name is Victoria Rodriguez. Last Year my sister Maria del Mar was victim of a violent attack in Colombia. She was injured with a bullet in her spine, leaving her a quadriplegic.
Since then our lives have changed drastically. Despite the circumstances, Maria del Mar wakes up every morning with a smile, positive energy and the strong faith that soon she will walk, move her arms and be self sufficient again, not only for herself but for our mother who has put her life aside to help her on this journey.
Although this has been incredibly difficult emotionally and financially, we have been blessed with support of family and friends during this very tough year.
In my desperation in searching for a way to help her, I found a stem cell treatment in Beike international clinic in Thailand that could improve her condition. The treatment and expenses to take her to Thailand will cost $60.000 US dollars and although it doesn't guarantee she will walk again it certainly guarantees her quality of life will get better. Mi nombre es Victoria Rodríguez. El año pasado mi hermana María del Mar fue víctima de un ataque violento en Colombia. Ella fue herida con una bala en la espalda, dejándola cuadriplejica.
Desde entonces nuestras vidas han cambiado drásticamente. A pesar de las circunstancias, María del Mar se despierta cada mañana con una sonrisa, con energía positiva y la fe fuerte que pronto va a caminar, mover los brazos y ser autosuficiente de nuevo, no sólo para ella sino para nuestra madre que ha dejado a un lado su vida para ayudarla en esta lucha.
Aunque esto ha sido increíblemente difícil emocionalmente y financieramente, hemos sido bendecidas con el apoyo de familiares y amigos durante este año tan duro.
En mi desesperación en la búsqueda de una forma de ayudarla, me encontré con un tratamiento con células madre en la Clinica Beike Internacional en Tailandia que podría mejorar su condición.
