I’m raising money for top surgery, because I know I won’t be able to save the amount I need in the amount of time I’m needing to. I have two jobs, but the cost of living is so high I’m basically living paycheck to paycheck.
I’m hoping to have enough for surgery by May of 2019. The reason I’m trying to get this surgery so fast, (on top of dysphoria being debilitating every day) is to pursue my dream of being a CrossFit coach. I put that dream on a shelf about two years ago because I didn’t pass my certification class. BUT I’m determined to train harder and study better so that I can reach my goal, pass my test, and be able to coach for a living and provide for my fiancée. I’m doing the best I can right now, but pulling 40 hours a week at one job and anywhere from 15-28 hours a week at the other, leaves me very little time to spend time with the person I love. And it’s frustrating, because even with that amount of hours, I’m still struggling to live comfortably and feel secure financially. Becoming a coach is probably my best career option and I’m so excited for it!
I’m determined to study and train as much as i can on my own. But before I can actually take my certification test, I have to have top surgery. Because my dysphoria is way too intense to go and do the physical part of the test with a whole group of people without a binder on.
My goal is to go to Dr. Raphael or Dr. Dulins in Plano Tx. Which, from what I’ve heard, can be anywhere from $6,000-$6,500. And on top of that amount, my fiancée and I will each have to take about a week off of work to make the trip to Texas, so we’ll be without a weeks worth of pay at least. Plus we’ll have to pay for a hotel room that week to stay in Texas for the follow-up appointment. And finally, we’d have to add food and gas expenses.
I’m not expecting this goal to be totally reached by May of 2019. But! I have hope. And every little bit helps.
