Matthew's Furry Friend In Need

Donation protected
This sweet pup was found by my son on his way home from school Wednesday.  The pup was sitting in a field shivering, alone and scared.  It couldn't walk because its paws were full of burrs.  I carried him home and we warmed him up and started searching for his owners.  We have had him just over 24 hours now. We got him a crate and dog beds so he could stay in the house where it is warm. I have posted on several Lehigh Valley Lost and Found Pet Sites, yard sale sites, and Craigslist. I have followed up with leads and drove around many neighborhoods looking for signs and talking to neighbors. While i was doing all that though, i dropped him off at the vet for a check up and a grooming. (Anyone who was out in the cold for as long as he has been deserves some spa treatment). The news i got when i picked him back up was NOT good. :( More than likely this dog has been dumped by his owner due to medical issues. (Though i still hope i'm wrong about that and someone out there is searching for him) He is about 8 or 9 years old. He has a sharp kidney stone the size of an egg that is causing him to pee blood. This cannot be dissolved with medicine and will require surgery as soon as possible or it is fatal. While they do that surgery he would also be neutered. The cost of just that will be between $600 and $1000. That is on top of the $200 we spent so far.  :(   He also has bilateral perianal hernia. (i was told that means the hernia is on both sides of his tush) That is another surgery down the road and can be extremely expensive.  I was told by the vet we are looking at an additional $2500 to $3000 for the hernia surgery, as they will have a specialist do it.  The hernia is the reason there is sometimes traces of blood in his stool. He does cry in pain when he goes to the bathroom so I  know he is suffering.   He has immature cataracts. (was not told if this is a big issue but i don't think it is). He had matted fur and burrs all stuck in his leg fur and paws, which is why he couldn't walk when we found him yesterday. He also had a burr cut him causing a laceration to the prepuce (where he pees) so again causing him pain. That should heal quickly on its own though. He doesn't show signs of fleas, or worms, or abuse (well accept the possible abuse of being dumped) I will get preventative flea treatment from the vet anyway just to be sure, but have to wait 48 hours as he was just bathed.  Obviously i left the vet sad and discouraged. I will continue to look for an owner, but i am pretty sure at this point the owner does not want to be found. The vet recommended we set up a go fund me page? I wasn't sure how it works but with the help of some great facebook friends i did some research and here it is.  The vet told me if we want to have the surgeries done the dog can still live a long healthy life.  The surgeries will cost much more than we could ever afford, but the other option of dropping him off at a shelter where he will most likely suffer and die or be put to sleep isn't something we can do.   I am asking for any help you feel you can give.  I want to thank you all for being so supportive and sharing his pictures and story for me. I ask that you again share his story and photos from this post and please pray for our little friend, that all works out for him.
