On Monday, September 18, 2017, the Rosenzweig family, friends, and the Flushing community lost a great man.
Matthew Rosenzweig, born February 22nd, 1975, was taken from us in a fatal motorcycle accident. Matty, a self-employed food vendor, was a beacon and fixture in the Flushing community for the better part of two decades. Throughout the years, Matthew’s corner brought together a melting pot of friends who’d find solace in each other. He’d greet his friends and customers with open arms, laughter, crazy antics, and banter that often made you feel like you were right at home, like you were part of his inner-tribe and family. Matthew’s corner was much more than an Eat and Run establishment; it was a roadside attraction where Matty’s Larger than Life persona was always on display and turned up high. You always got more than what you paid for with Matthew, and the impact he left on loved ones was well worth the price of admission.
In addition, Matty was a selfless soul, and would help those in need. Whether you needed a shoulder to cry on, advice, financial help, guidance, or even a simple meal, Matthew was always there for you. He went above and beyond for his friends and family, always pushing and steering those around him to be the best they could be.
This fund was created to honor our fallen friend, our brother to all, and to help reimburse partial, if not all financial expenses, and lighten the costly burden left to Matty's sister, Ericka.
Thank you for your loving support and generous donation in this difficult time. Matthew is loved and will be dearly missed by all of us.
All donations will go towards -
1. Reimbursement for funeral home, cremation, ceremony, and legal fees.
2. A memorial street sign for the corner of 38th Avenue, which will hopefully read "Matty's Corner", or what the city approves.
3. Remaining funds will be donated to a charity in Matthew’s name.
