This is not the story we imagined we would tell about Matt—our Matthew Collin Hays, who left this world on October 3rd.
Matthew meant everything to us. He was a driving force in our family, holding us together with each embrace and smile…our handsome and loving Matt.
To watch him move through the passages of his life left a footprint on all of our souls—a footprint that took its biggest step forward when just this past May he became the proud and protective father of a baby girl named Alita.
He left so much beauty in this world—he left us with a baby girl and her beautiful mama Dina. He left us with his love of nature, his innate ability to connect with animals, and his uncanny gift to make people laugh with his wonderous sense of humor. For all that knew him, he was perfect—or “perfectly imperfect,” as Matt liked to say.
We couldn’t be prepared for what this is. And his baby daughter and his girlfriend are especially unprepared for the tomorrow they will face, and the next day, and all the days to come. And so as a family, we ask you to be apart of our healing process by providing a voice that you are with us, holding this pain and if you are able to, donate to our GoFundMe which will provide us with the ability to pay for these funeral costs, and for Dina and baby Alita with the ability to move forward financially in what will be a long journey of healing.
