Matt & Michelle's Journey with IVF

Donation protected
Some of you may know that my wife and I were married this past April with the dream of starting a family quickly after. After a few months of trying Michelle underwent a procedure called an HSG and it was determined that she only had one working fallopian tube therefore, the likeliness to conceive was instantly cut in half. One month after Michelle underwent the HSG, we found out we were pregnant. We could not have been more excited and thankful that this happened for us.

After about 5 weeks, Michelle had concerns that there was something wrong and so we headed to the hospital where we were told we were having a miscarriage. We were devastated but knew that this was not be the end. One short week later we were back in the hospital because Michelle had severe pain causing her to pass out during an ultrasound. Michelle was told she needed to undergo emergency surgery to remove a ruptured ectopic pregnancy located in her right Fallopian tube (her working tube).

Following the surgery, we were then told that Michelle and I could not naturally get pregnant and we would need the assistance of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). Our hope is not completely lost because Michelle is still able to carry a child we just need some help. IVF is a very costly process and is not covered under most insurances.  Our dream is to have a family and because of the financial cost of this it seems nearly impossible for us to be able to proceed. My wife is the most selfless caring, loving person and would do anything for anyone. Please, if you can help us along our journey of creating a family we would appreciate it more than you know.

*Update-
Hello Everyone!

Sharing our story has been extremely difficult but at the same time comforting knowing how much support we have.

Some of you may know but most you probably don’t know how the past 4 years of my life has gone. A few years back my mom was diagnosed with life threatening throat cancer and it was a whirlwind for our family. We pulled together, and my sisters and I held a benefit on my mothers behalf to help support her during that horrendous time. My mom is now cancer free and living a healthy life. About year and a half ago I tragically and suddenly lost my best friend and father. This by far was something I couldn’t even imagine going through and was the absolute hardest thing I’ve ever experienced. The loss of my Dad has changed me in many ways but one thing that stuck with me was my hard working attitude, willingness to do what I needed to do to get things done and my love for helping and caring for others always. With this sudden loss my siblings and I were not prepared to make the arrangements needed so we started a Gofund me and with all of the support of our friends and family and even strangers you all helped lift the financial burden off of us and make things a little bit easier on us.

My point is I want to say thank you to all who has helped me and my family during these rough times in our lives and who are helping us through this difficult time currently, because we could not have done it without you all!

Also, I want to shout out my amazing Husband Matthew Gummel who not only busts his butt working crazy hours and picking up every odd end job trying to make our dreams come true but he had the courage to open up about this and I know that isn’t easy.

Little shout out to Lochels Bakery for being so flexible with my schedule and always allowing me to pick up extra shifts on top of my full time job!

This truly takes a village people! Love you all
