Masque of the Red Death Film Fund

Donation protected
Hello,

I am Chris McInturff, a senior Motion Pictures student at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I am directing a student short film in the Spring of 2018, and my team and I need your help.

I am in the pre-production process  of making my Senior Capstone film at Belmont.  It will be a 15-20 minute shortfilm. This film is not just a school project or a grade, but it is a tool that my fellow filmmakers and I will use to launch our careers and ultimately secure our future as a filmmakers.

What is the project?

The film is an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's Masque of the Red Death. The story is about a selfish Senator who has locked everyone he needs to survive in a mansion to escape a deadly plague called The Red Death that has almost caused humanity to go extinct. My take on The Red Death: ZOMBIES!

This adaptation is a zombie tragedy film that works around the theme of death being inescapable, even for the rich and powerful.

What is the money for?

Films are expensive. Everything you see on screen is included in an overall budget for the project. Big films are funded by studios so that they can make the best film possible that people will want to see. As a student... I have no studio to pay for my film (I wish).

A donation would help pay for things like:

- Special Effect Make-up (Zombies, Blood, etc)
Costumes
Food for the Cast and Crew
Location fees
Props and Set Dressing
Extra items (equipment, vehical rentals, etc)

All of these things are necessary to making a good professional looking film that I can put my name on. We are very fortunate at Belmont to have professional grade film equipment at our disposal for free. However, everything else (listed above) comes straight out of pocket. With the help of donations, potential of the film will soar above expectations.

When is the money needed?

Now, always, forever.

The film is slated to start shooting in mid January to early February, but pre-production and the purchasing of the required items has already begun.  Things like food and other items for set will be purchased closer to the shoot dates, but all of the production design items (costumes, make-up, props) are being researched and budgeted now.

Why should you donate to this project?

A donation to this project would mean the world to me because it would be helping me secure a future in the film industry.

With the fantastic help I have from very creative people I hope to make this project the best that it can be. My goal is to enter it in festivals and competitions to help make a name for myself as a writer and director.

As I mentioned before, making a film is expensive, and it won't be long until I no longer have access to the wonderful facilities and resources that Belmont University has to offer. That is why I am utilizing as much of those opportunities as possible to make an ambitious film that captures elements of some of my favorite TV shows and movies.

A donation of even $10 will help tremendously in offsetting the cost of the film.

My dream is to write and direct in the film industry. I am lucky enough to have found something that I enjoy doing every single day of my life.

Making films is a lot of hard work, but it is work that I love doing. Attending film school has taught me so many things that apply to life in general. Things like time managment, people skills, budgeting, and working in a creative and collaborative environment to create a project from start to finish.

I hope you consider donating to an ambitious project that helps me make my dreams come true.

Thank you so much!
