Mason Richard Boyd Scholarship Fund

Mason Richard Boyd, only 16 years old, was taken from this earth too soon.  Mason was a wrestler for Watkins Memorial High School and Team Miron.  He was not slated to wrestle with his teammates on Saturday, January 6 in a local tournament due to an injury.  After waking too late to catch the bus, Mason was driving to the tournament to support his teammates.  He unfortunately never arrived.  Mason was tragically killed when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.  Mason was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and a friend to everyone who knew him.  Since Mason’s passing, the stories of his kindness and inspiration have been overwhelming and have spread far and wide.  Friends have shared stories of how Mason has inspired and comforted them in times of need.  He led many to have a relationship with the Lord.   Mason was a kid with more faith than most adults.  Mason had a way of making everyone feel like he was their “person.” Mason was mature beyond his years.  As stated by his mother, some people take a lifetime to learn how to enter the gates of heaven, and it only took Mason 16 years.  Mason was a straight-A student and had a dream of becoming a neuro-surgeon.  He spent many days researching the best college to attend.  There is no doubt in my mind, he would have made this dream a reality.  In order to keep Mason’s memory alive a scholarship has been set up in Mason’s name:  The Mason Richard Boyd Wrestling Scholarship Fund.  Our goal is to provide an annual scholarship in Mason’s name to a wrestler who exhibits the same integrity, work ethic, drive, compassion, and love for life that Mason had.  We kindly ask for your donations in order to continue shining Mason’s light in this community.

“Never let someone bring you down/ruin your mood. Live the life you love and love the life you live.  Don’t worry about what others think of you, you do you, do whatever makes you happy.  Worrying won’t stop bad from happening, it will only stop you from doing what you love.” –Mason Boyd,  December 6, 2017
