Mason’s Continued FIGHT for life

Donation protected
Mason was born prematurely at 24 weeks and 6 days on 9/14/2013. Upon entry, Masons’ lungs were just not strong enough to breathe on his own, so he was intubated and vented in the first 4 minutes of his life. He was delivered via emergency cesarean section. On December 21, 2013 Mason was trached while still requiring Ventilator support. Mason remained hospitalized for the first 8 months of his life. Mason came home for the 1st time on 5/19/14. He continues to battle air way issues and is currently in ICU in Rainbow Babies & Children University Hosptials of Cleveland. Mason suffers from Tracheomalacia, Subglottic Stenosis, and BPD. It was decided in February they would take the trach out. It was removed 2/21/18 Mason remained trach free until 8/28/18 and was brought into the OR to have his first attempt at stoma closure. It did not go as planned and he was hospitalized 2 extra days & sent home with a temporary trach. Mason developed an infection at his stoma site over the course of the next week or so and was complaining of pain. Mason removed his trach on 9/12/18 and had to be rushed to the hospital and has been in ICU every since he was re-trached indefinitely on his 5th birthday which was 9/14/2018 and is currently still in ICU as I type this.....I was inspired to create a GoFundMe by a friend as I am Masons sole care taker although I have tons of family support that does not pay the bills. I am currently out on FMLA to care for Mason but I am not being compensated it just secures my employment. I don’t know when I will be able to return to work as Mase will need my care around the clock as his nursing services ended 6/9/18. I am asking that if Mason’s story has touched you in any way or you been watching him through his journey that you please think of helping us out as the bills don’t stop coming. There is no donation to small and we will be grateful for it all! This was very hard for me to set this up but it was suggested by family and friends to remind me I am not alone in this fight to Mason having a full life and eventually becoming trach free. Thanks for your time and I wish nothing but blessings and abundance for anyone who takes the time to read his story and understand what I am going through...God Bless
