CATS IN NEED OF HUMAN CARE-FULLERTON, CA

Tax deductible
Meet "Trinket" the 6-month old Tortoiseshell kitten in need of donations for medical care.

Trinket is a petite kitten with a purr that will impress anyone.  She was rescued from a parking structure of an apartment complex, when she was 3-months of age in February.   There was no mother cat, and no siblings to be found.  She was alone, living under the cars.  A kind resident of the complex found her, but she was feral, and feared attempting to catch her while there was traffic.  So, she fed her several times a day for months, and when she observed too many close calls with vehicles,  the woman called the Fullerton, CA. Chapter of Cats In Need of Human Care for help.  Fortunately Trinket was trapped in minutes, and she went home with me, as my foster.

She was socialized, vetted and placed into our adoption program when she was 5 months of age.  Trinket always seemed unusually stressed when taken to the adoption show once a week, and would exhibit rapid breathing which soon indicated it was more than stress.  10 days ago, Trinket was taken to the veterinarian and various tests were run.  The diagnosis was Diaphragmatic  Hernia.  It is unknown if this was congenital, or caused from blunt force trauma, from her life in the parking structure.   Her condition was life-threatening.  Trinket underwent a lengthy hernia repair, which also included the relocation of her liver, panaceas, small intestine and stomach that were in her chest, crowding her heart and lungs.  This explains her rapid breathing, low activity level, and calm behavior for a small kitten, that should have been full of life running around.   I can't imagine what it must have been like for a kitten that cannot  get enough air to run,  or eat adequate amounts of food for her size.

Her initial tests have been paid for, but she remains at the hospital recovering.   She will go to a foster around June 1 for rest.   Her prognosis is good, and she improves daily according to her caring doctor, and his staff.   I am asking for help  to fund her surgery and post surgery care.  If we receive more than is needed for Trinket, all monies will go to help other rescued cats and kittens that require  medical care beyond the normal vetting, that is done prior to adoption.

Our chapter still has several cats under 1 year of age, that were rescued in 2018, who are still receiving treatment for their injuries or congenital defects.  It seems there is never enough funding, or homes for these precious animals.  Please help us, help them.
I, (we) Thank You in advance for your support.

Post surgery photos of Trinket are available, and we will email them to you upon request.  Her incision is large.  To date, we have received $590 in donations from other sources. (May 31, 2019)
