Hi my name is Kat. I am currently 15 years old and a freshman in highschool. Just last week Tuesday, April 9th, my Dad Marty was admitted to the ER with symptoms of a high fever, vomiting, light headed, shortness of breath, nausea, and other serious symptoms. My Dad is a very tough guy and does not show his pain, but I could tell he was really struggling. When he was admitted to the hospital they found a mass on his lung about the size of a softball. Later that week on Friday he was diagnosed with inoperable Small Cell Lung Cancer. This cancer is very aggressive and rapidly spreading. The biggest mass out of the 3 is wrapped around his artery making surgery not an option. My Dad is a father to my 3 other siblings Logan, Taylor, and MacKenzie, he is an uncle, brother, friend, son, fighter, and he is married to a beautiful women, Amanda. My Dad is a fighter. He is not going to give up. He’s going to do everything possible to kick cancer’s butt. My Dad is the one you can go to when you need something, whether that be advice, a shoulder to cry on, problems that need fixing, heck he’d lend you the shirt off his back in the dead of winter. He’s my hero. My Dad has drove me all around the country Massachusetts, Florida, Nevada, Texas, Arkansas, anywhere so I would have the chance of a lifetime to compete for world champion in taekwondo. Though I did not win I would never trade that time with him for anything else. On top of all the medical expenses he will endure, my older sister MacKenzie is heading off to the University of Iowa this fall. Not to mention my college journey starts in 3 years. Being a small business owner in the automotive field is extremely physically demanding. As my Father continues to weaken from chemo he will be unable to work. I am asking you for any help and support so my family, friends, and I can continue making memories with him. Thank you.

This is a little winded but please read and then share this so others can read it also. Thank you!
I want to first say thank you to all of my family and friends for their continued prayers, support, encouragement, generosity, love, and help with everything. I will never be able to express how grateful my family and I are, but I will continually keep trying. I have been overwhelmed by just how many people are here for me. As most of you know I don’t usually ask for help, I typically give the help. I am finding out that in this situation I need all the help I can get. I have always tried to be charitable with those in need and not ask questions. Wether it be monetarily, with my skilled hands, or even just a shoulder to lean on. With all of the generosity I have received through the Go Fund Me & and the t-shirts that my Aunt Terri and her 2 young boys are working hard on this weekend, and the many other donations of all types of things from food, different remedies, to counseling me through the insurance ins and outs, and so many other things. All of this support has been so greatly appreciated. In the past when I have donated to many different things, I never asked nor would I as to how it was used exactly, I just felt like if I could help it was the right thing to do no questions asked. In this case I feel personally that I should share it with everyone. At this point the Go Fund Me, t-shirt proceeds (which coincidentally are selling like hot cakes), and the other monetary gifts are all being put into a savings account and have not been utilized as of yet. I am finding that with each passing day it is becoming harder and harder to go to work. As I am about to start my next round of Chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation 5 days a week, I will probably rarely be able to make it in. I do not expect to collect a paycheck for quite some time. Eventually that will catch up with my bills and medical expenses. My wife/rock Amanda will also have to miss work in order to take me to all of these appointments and also take care of me at home. While we are fortunate to not have a lot of debt at this point, I am already seeing the medical bills come in. I do have health insurance but we all know how that goes. So it is then that I will sparingly use the proceeds from all of your kindness to make sure Amanda and our kids have the necessities they need. It will also be used to help with prescriptions and other medical expenses. So maybe you wanted to know and maybe you didn’t, but because you have been so kind and generous I personally felt the need to let everyone know exactly what my family will be using this account for. Sorry for the long read, and again from the bottom of my heart, thank you all, we love you and god bless!

My dad finished his first battle with chemo and has been at home resting. He felt good the first couple of days. But he’s feeling really sick. Thank you so much for all the support and love you all have given us. Please remember to keep away from my dad if you are sick and a precaution to avoid any physical contact. Thank you.
