Backstory

On the 30th October 2019 we lost our dad suddenly to a severe brain haemorrhage, just over a week after myself, (the youngest) and my dads birthday (they were a day apart). It came as a shock to all of our family as he seemed to be fit and well and on the road to full recovery.

Our dad had suffered from many health issues over his lifetime. In 2003 he had a kidney transplant which made him begin to re-evaluate life. He began to focus more on the present and the things he had around him, he took each day as it came and did not want to stress too much over life's many hurdles. But in 2017 he was faced with more bad news. He had suffered from a heart attack which resulted in a triple bypass operation. The following years were his hardest but each time we saw him he always managed to crack a joke, always commenting on the lack of decent T.V shows and reciting adverts he had seen on a daily basis. As his daughters, we kept nagging him to eat a bit more healthy to keep his strength up but our dad, being the stubborn man he is (aren't most!) kept turning his nose up against anything green!

I remember coming home for our birthdays a few weeks ago and we spent hours just chatting about what was going on at the time, he laughed at how confusing my degree is with all of its scientific jargon, to new games that I was excited to play, we even touched on Christmas, planning what and how much food to get, the board games that we always played because of tradition even though we couldn't stand how long they went on for! For a long time we saw happiness and excitement in our dad and we are glad those were our final moments with him.

The Costs

Myself and my sister started this fundraiser in hopes to give our dad the send off he deserves. We want to give him a burial so we can visit him on holidays and birthdays and tell him about what we're up to in our lives.

The average cost of a burial in the UK is around £5000, so with this fundraiser we hope it will cover these costs. Our dad loved all things cars especially American classics particularly a Ford Capri which he once owned. We wanted to hire one out and lead the hearse for a true send off. Any additional funds will help cover fees and support our family over Christmas.

How You Can Help

By donating even just a couple of pounds would mean the world to myself and my sister, anything that can help fund our vision for his send off. We also understand that this time of year is tough on a lot of people so just sharing this around with your friends and family to get more reach will be just as helpful. We will update regularly on what your donations will be put towards so you are kept in the loop.
