Martin Short-tail's Veterinary Care

Meet Martin Short-Tail!

This handsome young pewter tabby boy suffered a grievous injury to his tail, and is missing more than half of it. He was wandering around Cornwall with this raw, untreated wound (covered in bright green in above left photo so at to protect the squeamish!) for over a week before a kind, caring young woman named Sarah was able to catch him and bring him to Bee Meadow Farm for care. We can only imagine what sort of pain and discomfort Martin has been in, and how he lost so much of his tail will forever be a mystery! Many cats are suffering on the streets of Cornwall, ON and while we wish we could save them all, at least we can help this friendly, affectionate little guy who, despite his condition, just wants to be petted and loved.

Today (July 17) Martin went to see Dr. Tomlinson at St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital in Cornwall. He is now scheduled to have an amputation of most of what is left of his tail. He was dehydrated upon admission, so he's also receiving IV fluids and antibiotics. Martin will be neutered at the same time is he having his amputation done, and once he has recuperated and received all his vaccines and been dewormed, he will be available for adoption.

Martin had a little accident in his crate when he was being brought to the farm, then (OOPS!) rolled in it, so the good people at St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital are going to wash off that manly tomcat scent and get him smelling fresh as a daisy again.

Martin is only about seven months old, and despite his awful treatment by humans (someone socialized this kitten, did not bother to neuter him, then left him to his own devices)  he is a quiet, mellow, sweet fellow who will make an outstanding pet for some lucky person.

Don’t worry, Martin! We will get you feeling better soon! Thank you to Sarah for caring enough to get Martin to us, and for Dr. Tomlinson and staff for giving him the expert help and compassionate care he so very much needs.

We are seeking funds to help cover the costs of Martin's surgery, hospitalization, and meds, with a goal of $1,000. If you would like to donate to help Martin Short-tail, we would be most grateful for any contribution! If we should be lucky enough to exceed our fundraising goal, any extra funds will go to the spay/neuter fund for the cats and kittens being fostered here at Bee Meadow Farm. We currently have 20 foster cats and kittens under our care.
