Mars Emergency!

'Twas the night before Christmas Eve and all through the house, our 4-year-old Siberian cat, Mars, was throwing up on every available surface.


Actually, she'd been throwing up for a little while after dinner (she got hungry and ate some more, then threw up again) so we took the food away to see if she was still sick in the morning. She was, and was vomiting bile, sometimes pink with blood.

It being a holiday, I took her to the nearest emergency vet. We do have insurance, so the bill was not as astronomical as it could have been. PHEW. But it was still a pretty tough financial blow to take, and we may have more bills on the way if she doesn't recover soon.

A few friends had texted their concern and that they would be willing to help out with a few bucks, so I have made this GoFundMe page to collect from any like-minded friends. At this time, we think that $500 will be used to help cover Mars's emergency medical costs.
(EDIT: As of 1/3/2017 we have spent nearly $2K. I will know in about 2-3 weeks how much the insurance will cover. We are in wait-and-see mode with Mars and may have more vet visits in our near future until she is back on a regular feeding and eliminating routine. A few friends have asked to reopen the campaign so they can donate, so we are still accepting donations at this time.)

If the amount collected exceeds what we need, we will pay forward the extra funds to other animals in need, and provide updates of who else you helped.

Thank you all so much for your concern. Mars--well, let's face it, Mars doesn't care. She doesn't give a $%&^. But Jason and I are super, super grateful for any help that you can give, and while Christmas Eve has been a bit of a bummer, we got Mars home in time for Christmas, so things are looking up.
