Marlene's Fight to Live Fund
July 26th , 2017 during a routine procedure our mothers life changed forever as we watched her life nearly slip away. Marlene Caetano-Palmer has been fighting non-alcoholic cirrhosis (Primary Biliary Cirrhosis) and was accepted to Stanford for Treatment on the very same day she crashed and was placed on Life Support at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia,Ca. Once again on July 31st our mother coded and nearly passed for a second time as they attempted to remove her from the ventilator for transport to Stanford for a Higher Level of Care. My sister Michele Weiss and I continued to push for her transfer and were successful as she was Airlifted to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Ca. on August 12th. Numerous tests have been completed and we currently await further testing. She has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder (less than 20k diagnosed yearly ) Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) which is treatable but recovery is slow and will require a long term advanced rehabilitation center in the coming months. Our mother has been fighting for her life and she continues to amaze not only her family and friends but also the Medical Team at CPMC as she has surprised them and even invigorated many of them to research and push further to try to save her life. As you can imagine this has not only consumed many resources but mom has been off work and we are getting overwhelmed with keeping her bills, insurance and other costs associated with her care that we have both decided that its way past time in asking for some help from the family and friends as many have asked how they can help. We would love for her to live through this and not be overwhelmed with debt. All funds raised will go to keeping her bills, and other care giver costs paid. If God decides to call our mother home any funds raised will be used to give her proper services (were also asking for prayers, thoughts and positive energy that she gets to stay her with us ) as she does not have any funds set aside for funeral services . All information and Updates will be made to her Personal Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/marlene.caetano.79
Thank You ......
Michelle Weiss and I have been heart broken as many of you can understand. On the morning of September 6th, 2017 surrounded by family and the warmth of our love she gave us one final gift. She knew it would be impossible to let her go and her final act of being such a altruistic person (she always put everyone before herself) was to take the burden of her death, away from her children. Our Momma is the strongest person I have ever known, she was the most giving and she was not just a mother to us but to so many people. It seams unreal and we are still in shock. My Sister and I are gonna give Momma the best Celebration of her life that we can, its been hard but our spouses Kathleen Green-Martins and Brian J. Weiss have been there to help us and support us when we fall apart. Momma's whole world consisted of her family and not much in worldly possessions, she would give the shirt off of her back and go without someone could have something. We want everyone and anyone that wants to Celebrate her life to join us.
