Most of you know Marlee Grosher. For those who don't, she's 19 years old and has been a star soccer player, runner and surfer as well as a stellar student, daughter and friend. Three months ago, she was a healthy 19-year-old college student studying kinesiology, teaching paddle boarding and surfing and looking foward to her future as an athlete and health professional. Suddenly her stomach started swelling. Having always been so healthy, she was shocked when her ER visit turned up a massive tumor in her stomach. After an emergency surgery, she was diagnosed with a rare malignant form of ovarian cancer called adult granulosa cell tumor. The following month she had another surgery to remove her right ovary. Unfortunately the pathology dictates the need for further treatment. Marlee is willing to lose her thick mane of gorgeous hair (it will grow back even thicker she's been told), but she is not willing to risk her fertility. This gofundme page will allow her to preserve her eggs, get second and third opinions, move foward with treatment, and have medical options for treatments that insurance won't cover. She's been told she needs to make some quick decisions and having the funds to be able to do so will lighten the stress load for Marlee and her family. 19 year olds should be enjoying life, not worrying about whether they will survive long enough to become wives and mothers. The world needs Marlee, and Marlee's babies.

Hello everyone,

My family and I cannot begin to express how overwhelmed and grateful we are for all of the love and support we have received. This last month since my second surgery has been an emotional rollercoaster.

When the doctors recommended chemotherapy and harvesting my eggs we quickly met with the oncologist and fertility specialist to set up everything, which prompted the Go Fund Me Campaign. However, jumping into chemo is a huge decision and we decided to have my lab results sent out for more opinions. Both Harvard and the Mayo Clinic agreed that there are no signs of the granulosa cell tumor, but they did find “unusual cells” in my stomach cavity that might be another form of cancer. Unfortunately no doctor has been able to clearly distinguish what these cells are. After receiving this news I got a PET scan, but the results were inconclusive.

This last month has been one of the most stressful in my life. Playing the waiting game with the doctors only to come up without a clear answer has been the most difficult part. As of now the doctors have decided that the best thing for me to do is wait instead of subjecting me to harmful treatment without a clear diagnosis. In three months I will get another PET scan and blood tests to see if these “unusual cells” have turned into tumors.

It is a very confusing and frustrating situation, but I know that this will all work out in time and I will be alright. I have had to make some of the hardest decisions of my life and it has not been easy, but having so much love and support has eased the stress. I can’t express how grateful my parents and I are to everyone who has reached out. Over the next few months we will be exploring more testing and the continued possibility of the fertility process. I will keep you all up to date as we continue on this journey.

Thank you all again.

Marlee, I just stumbled on this on Go Fund me as I was donating for something else ( yours was a add below). I hope you get the funds to freeze your eggs. I know several women my age who are now having babies with their frozen eggs~ I was not fortunate enough to have the $ to do so and now can't have kids & it is honestly one of the most heart breaking tragedies of my life. I hope someday you have the opportunities I never had, you deserve it and are such a wonderful person~ Love of love and well wishes~ you and your family are a bright light and I am honored to know you~Your a work of art~Ms. S
