Several months ago, my dear friend Marla Hayes was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with the spread moving into her liver and spleen.
After a round of chemo Marla has had to be hospitalized due to infection. It was during her stay in hospital that Marla decided she couldn't take any more pain to her physical body in addition to the chemical sensitivities she suffers due to her other physical ailments. Marla battles Muscular Dystrophy as well as other physical ailments, and has for many years. The thought of losing what little quality of life she may have left, simply wasn't an option. Marla made the very difficult decision to discontinue the chemo and ride out the cancer on her own terms.
Unfortunately, the infections have left Marla weak and we are having to bring in home care 4 days/week to help with nursing, caregiving, meal prep, cleaning, dressing, etc.
I am humbly asking for your support to help Marla for the next several months as she prepares for the diminishing mobility of her body that the cancer will cause. Every cent raised will go directly to help pay for a professional caregiver for four months (minus the Go Fund Me fee).
Marla will be returning home from hospital soon and getting a caregiver in place is of utmost urgency. Your donations will help make Marla's life more comfortable for the next few months. UPDATE: I just want to thank everyone for rallying behind our beloved Marla. She has been an angel to so many of us throughout the years, and while I'm not the least bit surprised at the outpouring of love and support, I am deeply humbled and grateful. I keep Marla updated on all the messages of love and support while she's in hospital. It seems they are going to keep her for a bit longer. I will update on here as often as possible.
