Market Hog USDA Loan

My name is Sienna Biltz and I am 11 years old. I am in the 6th grade at the Atascadero Middle School and I am in King's Highway 4H. I'm reaching out to find a buyer for my 4h market hog. This is my second year in the market hog project. My Yorkshire Cross gilt named Chalula weighed in at 245 pounds last week. I placed 4th in my class in market. And tried my very best in showmanship! Last Friday at fair I noticed my hog was not eating. We called the vet to
the pen right away. Where the vet confirmed she was not feeling great.
Rather than try to get the pig to auction on an aspirin or two, we decided
it would be most ethical to bring home the hog and give her the antibiotics
to safely get her better. She is doing great... and eating like a pig!! We are going to feed her out through the medication withholding period. She is currently eating show pig feed and goat milk. I have a loan through the USDA for my hog project. I have been in contact with Tarry at the USDA office in Santa Maria, and they have given me permission to seek out a buyer on my own since I was not able to sell at auction. On auction day I helped other 4H members prepare their hogs for auction and I worked hog boards for the auction and it was really neat to be a part of behind the scenes action!
