Marissa Hollier's Recovery Fund

My niece, Marissa, is going through a horrible experience. She has anorexia. She has lost 100 pounds in 3 months! She was bullied because of her weight and this has spiraled into a roller coaster ride of self destruction.

She is 13 and going through the hardest phase in her life! She is trying to accept herself for who she is and she is not winning the battle between what she sees in herself and what she thinks people see in her. Since August 2015 she has been in and out of different hospitals. The best place in the country is working with her. Insurance has been difficult and unwilling to keep her in treatment for the length of time she really needs to get better.

She was in the hospital for Christmas and spent it 1,000 miles away from home. After going home for 2 weeks she lost 10 pounds and her heart rate dropped to 41 bpm and blood pressure dropped to 80/60.

My sisters family is in a crisis. Her divorce was final in December and then she lost her job 3 days after Christmas. She was fired after taking too much time off to spend with her daughter out of state trying to save her life! 

Thanks to the generosity of Texas Childrens Hospital in donating the airline tickets, Marissa and my sister are flying back to the only hospital that will help her get better. While Marissa is in the hospital recovering my sister will stay in McDonald House. This is an organization who provides shelter to those with children in medical need. The hospital requires that one parent stays near by. The need and requirement to stay near her daughter out of state is preventing my sister from looking for another job until she can return. Unfortunately this has caused additional expense while normal expenses have continued to mount such as rent and utilities.

I am doing this to help her pay bills and meet her obligations while Marissa is in the hospital. Once Marissa gets out of the hospital she is required to stay in outpatient for a month and then continue treatment 3 days week at home. So this is to help with the expenses: food/gas/rental car/plane tickets while Marissa is getting treatment. As well as, keeping their rental house while she is away.

My heart just breaks for my niece and wish I could do more for them. I wish she could see how beautiful, sweet and special she is to all who loves her. I can not imagine how my sister is holding it all together as well as she is under all the heartbreaking circumstances and the continued challenges she faces daily. Marissa needs our love, support and encouragement to get better. Thank you for anything you can do to help.
