In memory of Marion
A wonderful friend of ours and friend of the animals, Marion, is in a critical condition in hospital. She is in an induced coma after falling down the stairs. She has internal bleeding within her body and her brain.
She is in a very bad way.
For anyone who don't know Marion, she and her amazing husband Mark run the FRIEND Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Kent. They have gave up their lives to rescue and look after animals and promote an ethical vegan lifestyle. You do not get much more fantastic people than these two. They have saved thousands of lives over the years.
All our thoughts are with you Marion and also you Mark.
Mark will be going back and forward to the hospital and so it's likely extra funds will be needed for him to go back and fourth to London, where she is in hospital. Every pound helps and will also help to keep the sanctuary running. Maybe if enough is raised it could also help pay towards transport costs for volunteers who may be able to help out at the sanctuary, so even if you can spare £1, if we get enough people donating we can raise our goal :)

The funeral is going to be something special, everyone is welcome so we hope to see as many faces as possible there and let's celebrate Marion's amazing beautiful life together.
We shall continue to raise money here as funerals do cost a lot of money so we are still hoping to raise some more money. Thanks for all your support. Below is a message from Mark.
"I have hopefully barring any changes arranged Marions funeral for the 30th january, please could you share this so we can have an idea of how many people wish to come. I have not arranged exact times but i will update as soon as confirmed. We will be having a church service and hopefully Marion will be buried on the sanctuary itself, we will then have a wake for her in a hall not to far away. xxx Mark"
"As many of you are now aware our beloved Marion passed away last night, she passed away peacefully all my words are and have been said by the amazing outpouring of messages of love from all of you and for that i and i am sure Marion are completely blown away and grateful,l thank you so much.
We have truly lost a warrior for the animals and i am devastated, i will soon hopefully write something about her absolute stunning life's work caring for animals !!. Funny next to Marion bed there is a small info board stating Marions name doctors and care nurses name and under the special requirements space was the word vegan and i then wrote underneath warrior !!
Marions wishes are to have a big send off for her and really it will be an open funeral for she does deserve it, please come along when it is arranged and give her a big ALF goodbye xxx
I am truly honoured to have been your partner Marion, really words cannot explain how much i am going to miss you but we will meet again and i really love you.
Rest in peace my beautiful girl xxx. Mark"
Donations are still be greatly accepted here and will help towards the running of the sanctuary, the funeral and also a lasting legacy for Marion.
Marion had a bit of a set back a few days ago. She has been taken back into the critical care unit.
More news will be available as and when we have it.
Mark thanks everyone for their love and support.
Yesterday we had around 30+ volunteers turn up to do some work at the sanctuary and get their hands dirty.
So thanks again to all those who have donated and volunteered.
I would also like to thank everyone who has donated. Wow such a big amount I've just seen. You're all stars!
I'm not sure if Mark has seen how much yet but he'll be really touched when he does :)
Hi, i would personally love to thank you all who have given so generously to this this appeal and also to JJ who set this up, if you do not know, Marion is still in the critical care unit but is stable which is good news :) She will be in hospital for quite a long time so your support is greatly appreciated and still needed !! We are going to still keep things going at the sanctuary and we are also planning to improve the house so we can care for Marion properly. Please if you can just share this appeal every now and then and hopefully we can quickly get the full target amount raised. Thank you all again so much, and best wishes for the new year, all our love Mark, Marion and all the animals xxxx
