Marilyn Medical Fund

My Mom Marilyn O’Grady moved to Orcas Island in 1994 and she has resided there ever since. Anyone who has been to the Island has probably seen her smiling face as she greets everyone coming off the ferry boat. She loves her simple quiet life on Orcas and loves her community. But life hasn’t always been easy.  Over the last 24 years she has overcome so many obstacles including a double aneurism, the death of her husband (my Dad)and breast cancer just a few years ago.  She overcame every one of those things and has always come out of it stronger than before. She really is the strongest person I know. This past month life has thrown her another mountain to climb. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Lung Cancer. In the next few weeks she will begin her treatments which will include Chemo Therapy and Radiation.  As many of you may have loved ones that have gone through something like this you know she has a tough road ahead. She will be recieving treatment daily for 5-6 wks which makes working to maintain her income and health insurance seem almost impossible. We have high hopes she will pull through this stronger then ever. To eliminate the financial burden of frequent ferry rides, medical visits and lack of income we hope we can pull together and support a wonderful woman. Anything you can donate is much appreciated and will help alleviate the stress of finances that she is feeling and allow her to focus on kicking cancers ass!
