Maria's battle against Cancer

To those who know our dear friend and colleague, Maria Bowman, she is one of the kindest, most thoughtful and gracious people you will ever meet. She is a compassionate mother, devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all.
Maria is also a brave and courageous warrior; beautiful, resilient and the epitome of strength.
Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2013, Maria took a leave from her career to begin a series of treatments, including aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and a number of surgeries. She has fought with incredible grace and determination, committed to winning this battle and minimizing any disruption in the lives of her two young daughters, who have brought her a steadfast supply of joy throughout her recovery and treatment. Living and coping with cancer can be overwhelming and challenging, both physically and emotionally, but through it all, Maria has pushed her body, continued to embrace life to the fullest, and always looked forward to the future.
Unfortunately, her latest round of chemotherapy came with a host of intolerable side effects and doctors have advised that conventional cancer treatment is no longer providing the benefit that it once did. Maria and Alex have explored more personalized, alternative cancer therapies, but the past few weeks have been difficult. Her current battle has severely impacted her mobility, leaving her in need of around the clock care until she regains the strength to perform daily tasks with limited assistance.
Maria and Alex have gone through many ups and downs over the past 6 years. There has been a financial outlay, and this is where we, Maria’s family and friends, have the opportunity to return some of the love and support that they have shared with us over the years. The past few weeks have been tough, but let’s show this beautiful family how much they mean to us and help them focus without other distractions, on Maria and nothing else.
