Dear family, friends and colleagues,
As many of you know, our sister, Margaret Boyd, suffered an intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke (also known as ICH stroke or deep brain stroke) and is being treated at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. She is currently in the SICU where she will be for at least 2 weeks. Margaret is strong so we have every hope she will survive this, but recovery is sure to be emotionally and physically taxing, not only for Maggie, but for Kurt and Elijah, too.
While our priority is getting Maggie on the road to recovery, we are preparing ourselves for the exponentially high hospital costs - her out of pocket expenses will be very high. We all feel fairly helpless right now as the minutes tick by, hoping beyond hope that we see the light in her eyes sooner than later. While we wait, we hope to help ease the impending financial burden so Kurt and Elijah can focus on Maggie’s healing.
We appreciate the significance of this ask - most people are working to make ends meet. If right now isn’t a good time to donate, we understand completely. But there is no amount too small - we will be deeply thankful for any gift.
