HELP ME MAKE MY BROTHER MARC A CANCER SURVIVOR!!!
“Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” ~Misty Copeland
Hello, we are Chris, Monick and Alexandra, Marc Paul's brother and sisters, and we are making this direct appeal to you in order to raise money for our dear brother’s upcoming cancer treatment.
Our big brother Marc Paul, whom we love dearly, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer right after Valentine’s Day 2015. After 7 months of searching for the cause of his “digestive problems,” doctors finally detected a large tumor in his rectum that spread to his liver and lungs. At age 47 (at the time of his diagnosis), and as the father of two young children (then 6 and 4) and husband to a wonderful wife, Marc was determined to do everything to survive:
“With the kids and Efua, I only have one option -- to be a cancer survivor.”
Since that day in February 2015, Marc has had two surgeries, umpteen rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, many days in the hospital, a brief “cancer-free” diagnosis, a recurrence and more chemo. During the latest chemo rounds the metastasized spots on his liver have remained active, those on the lungs are still there but have not grown, and there is perhaps a new cancer in the colon. His body is starting to resist conventional treatment, so my brother is seeking other ways to heal. He decided to add powerful alternative treatments to his healing.
After much research, he picked a well-regarded residential program at the Gerson Treatment Center ( http://www.gersontreatment.com/) in Rosarito, Mexico, going from December 5th thru December 23rd. The treatment protocol has a twofold objective, to destroy cancer cells (including the cancer stem cells that chemo can’t touch), and to strengthen the body’s immune system for further protection.
This alternative treatment is comprehensive but comes at a price. The cost of the treatment for 18 days is $20,000+ dollars plus incidentals, and insurance won’t cover it.
We need your support, both spiritually and financially right now. Marc hasn’t been able to work consistently for almost two years, exhausted his savings, and does not have this sort of money.
He is reluctantly relying on the kindness of family, friends and even strangers to help pay for his treatment. We have had to convince him that in a life-or-death situation like this, it is indeed okay to ask for and receive help.
We ask that you please show him support in anyway you can. Any amount helps! And even if you cannot help financially, please share this page with everyone you know! Time is of the essence and the more people who know about this petition, the more likely we will be to reach this ambitious goal.
Marc has started to share his experiences with cancer publicly on his Facebook page "Living For Hope Survivors" and his new site LivingForHope.com which offers encouragment and support to other recently diagnosed cancer survivors.
We are extremely proud of our brother's mission to help other cancer survivors and we look up to him for his continued courage, strength and optimism for life. I ask all of you to support him so that he can continue to be the great husband, dad, brother and friend that he is with all of us for a very long time to come.
Please lend your support today so that Marc can get to complete healing sooner than later.
We will keep you updated on our progress in this GoFundMe campaign, and also on Marc’s treatment at the Gerson Treatment Center.
Thank you with all of our hearts,
Chris Paul, Monick Halm, & Alexandra Paul
THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED US REACH THIS GOAL! YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!
MARC NOW HAS THE MONEY HE NEEDS TO GO FOR HIS TREATMENT IN MEXICO.
YOU MAY CONTINUE TO DONATE. ANY MONEY THAT IS RECEIVED OVER THIS REQUESTED AMOUNT WILL BE USED BY MARC AND HIS FAMILY FOR HIS CONTINUED CARE. HE IS CURRENTLY UNABLE TO WORK, SO IT ALL HELPS. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE!
Marc wanted us to share his latest update with you:
" I'm so happy to be home for Christmas. My clinic trip is finally over, my father and I returned Friday afternoon from Risaroto. The experience was transforming, challenging, and very much worth it. Now, the challenge for me is to continue and keep up the treatment here at home for the next two years. It's not easy, but I'm committed and I owe it to you, my family, and most of all myself. I'm feeling optimistic of my outcome for complete healing , but slightly overwhelmed at the task ahead for me. I have a two year journey ahead, but it should get easier as I move forward. I will need all the strength to do so. Therefore, please continue to support me through your prayers and positive thoughts. I look foward to seeing you soon.
Have a great holiday and a happy new year!"
Thanks for your continued support everyone.
Chris, Monick and Alexandra Paul (Marc's siblings)
Marc wants to share an update with you about his first week at the Northern Baja Gerson Center. He and our father recorded this video to describe Marc's experience to date and his immense appreciation for your support:
Marc wishes for your continued prayers and to please share his journey with anyone else you may know who might benefit from his story.
Thank you all so much for supporting our brother!
Chris, Monick and Alexandra Paul
He asked me to let you know how incredibly grateful he is and how he wishes that he could respond to everyone individually right now to say thank you. He is blown away by the outpouring of love and support you've shown. He has read your thoughtful messages and feels so loved and hopeful.
He is overwhelmed with trip preparations and everything else right now, so he can't reach out to you all individually, but he hopes that one day soon he will be able to thank you.
Chris, Alexandra, I would also like to send our deepest appreciation for each of you. It's been overwhelmingly wonderful and heartening to feel your love and support for our brother. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!
When we found out last week, everything was insane. The thought of how we would find this money was so stressful and emotional. A lot of prayers happened. But today, I literally woke up and cried tears of joy. God showed his AWESOMENESS by answering our prayers, 10 fold!
For the first time in almost two years, I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief for my brother. He has a long way to go, but because of your selflessness, he is getting a fighting chance.
He leaves on Monday, so please pray for him, send him healing wishes as he says F*#% OFF to cancer!!
Less than 24 hours, we reached our goal... SERIOUSLY THANK YOU! ❤️❤️❤️
What awesome news to wake up to this morning! There IS goodness in this world. Yay!!!
