We are Marcella and Alexandria. We have just gotten into a home after almost three years of homelessness. Alexandria is a 2014 graduate of The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. She volunteered at the Emily K Center for a period of two and a half years, working with third and fourth graders on a weekly basis. She teaches English across the world via online langauges exchanges as a hobby which is near and dear to her heart. She was persuing degrees in Biology and Psychology when her health began deteratorating in 2014. Due to the extreme deteration from 2014 to now, she has to have two brain surgeries on 10-24-2016 and 10-31-2016. Alexandria has a rare condition. She was born with an encephalocele in her brain. It causes her to have seizures. After the surgeries, she will faces several months of recovery and rehabilitation. I, Marcella, am diabetic, hypertensive, and am recovering from a hip replacement. We lost almost everything we owned and do not have private transportation., which often makes it challenging for us to attend scheduled doctor's appointments and pick up medication.

Moving forward in our new home and post Alexandria's surgery, there will be cost for transportation, medical equiptment, and sustaining housing for several months. I am asking for help to give Alexandria the best chance of a great recovery so that she may persue her dream of becoming a doctor.
We would appreciate any help, whether big or small, as soon as possible because Alexandria will be in the hospital for appromixately two weeks and there are things that need to be done in the home to make it comfortable for her recovery. Because of the delicate nature of Alexandria's operations, frequency of her doctor's appointments, and my current use of a walker, we will need to make arrangements to provide our own transportation.
