Marcela's chemotheraphy

Donation protected
Hi, I am Arnel Palpal-latoc presently living in Canada.  I made this account for my sister Marcela Palpal-latoc Pillas who is in the Philippines. Despite of not having any children, she is happily married with Rommel Pillas for 17 years. I just wanted to share her story and hoping that God will touch your heart to lend a helping hand for her.

In 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer which led her to having left breast removal and  then followed by series of chemotherapy.  She responded to treatment very well and thought we were successful in treating this cancer.  But in 2010 (2 years after breast cancer) in one of her check ups, the doctor found another form of cancer this time in her uterus.  Further tests were made and results revealed it was an aggressive cancer, which prompted the surgeon to do an ovary removal surgery to reduce the risk of spread.  She had undergone another series of chemotherapy.

All these medical expenses took a toll on their financial situation. They got into massive amount of debts, their savings were drained and loans filed up to different people.  This led to my brother-in-law , Rommel, to work overseas in Qatar to be able to earn and somehow  pay their debts. But unfortunately, he was sent home because the company was closing with the oil crisis in the middle east at that time.  He would find part time jobs and was having difficulty in getting stable job to pay off their remaining debts.

In God's grace she became well for a while. We all thought she's heading to complete recovery and cancer free.  But recently, Marcela had colds for days and assume it was just common cold because of changing weather. Until she collapsed and had seizure one morning and was rushed to the hospital. A series of check up has been done and was told that her cancer reoccurred after 7 years. Final biopsy revealed Marcela has metastatic lung cancer - poorly undifferentiated adenocarcinoma. It was a devastating news for everyone in the family.  Our initial reaction was to pray for her on how she will cope up with this.  It was difficult for her to process, she cried but yet remain positive about life and that she would be able to beat this just the same as she did before.

But reality keeps on kicking in as the days progress with financial impact the disease will cause all of us including emotional distress.  My sister and her husband's only source of income was just a small store (called sari-sari store in the Philippines).  This prompted us to seek help from GoFundMe. The entire family is "ALL IN" in this battle, but our resources is not sufficient enough to get through. Please help us give Marcela another chance at life.  Everyone in her community knows she has a giving and compassionate heart.  She is very committed in serving others and always willing to help when needed. Right now a lot of prayers vigils are being held by friends and families in her behalf.

I am knocking at your hearts to help her live longer and have a healthy life. I believe she still has a purpose in this world and have dreams to be fulfilled as well.  The first chemotherapy is done and the immediate funds needed is for the next series of chemotheraphy that the family cannot sustain.

Our entire family battle cry is  "Laban (fight) Palpal-latoc - Pillas" .  We would like to thank you all in advance for any help you can send and we will be forever grateful to everyone. It will mean so much to my sister Marcela for another chance at life. May God Bless us all.
