Helping Mothers and Babies Survive



Manos de Ramon Foundation (MDR) is an NGO committed to training local health care providers in Latin America using American Academy of Pediatrics and WHO sponsored programs.  We are unique in that we partner closely with the Ministry of Health and other local groups to deliver education and follow up at each site.  We believe that improving maternal-infant mortality involves a sustained effort requiring patience and small incremental change to practice.

Our current major initiative is in Santiago, Dominican Republic.  The Dominican Republic has one of the highest infant mortality rates in Latin America, despite widespread access to care.  Our ongoing work implementing training in Helping Babies Survive and Helping Mothers Survive programs is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of mothers and infants in the Dominican Republic.

All funds collected will be dedicated towards ongoing training and follow-up of these maternal-infant programs, in addition to on-site quality improvement education.  Our goal is engagement and empowerment of local providers and program SUSTAINABILITY.
