A grandfather told us that he skips meals so his wife and grandkids have enough to eat.
Try and imagine what it feels like to be hungry and worried about how to provide your family's next meal.
When you are hungry, it's hard to think about anything else. It's hard to learn, work, love, laugh, sleep or stay healthy. Hunger stunts physical growth and school readiness. And it is touching more families than ever.
In fact, 1 in 4 children in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties don't have access to healthy food or enough food.
Every month, Manna provides 25,379 meals for 890 families.
But it is not enough. In April 2014, the flood destroyed all of Manna's equipment and food, and made their current space unusable for the long term future.
We need your help in raising the $1 million needed to make the new facility the solution that is needed to serve our families that are hungry. We want to move them from hunger to hope.
Manna continues to find ways to solve community hunger through the Tummy Bundles Program, Healthy Senior Monthly Food Program, and partnering with Gulf Coast Kid's House.
We know we can do more. We know more is needed. Our new space will provide opportunities to enhance these programs and create new ones.
In 2015, Manna helped 20,303 people in need, and that still left others without resources. With this new building, we will have 23,000 square feet of hope under one roof, ready to educate, serve and partner with children, families, seniors and military that are in need.
When you donate towards our goal of $135,000, you make it possible for hungry children to be fed.
You make it possible to create change in our community through food related education.
You make it possible for seniors not to have to decide between buying their medication or something to eat.
You make it possible to move our community from hunger to hope.
