Making Great Kids Greater in Kenya

Donation protected
Hi my name is Dana, and I am the country director for SuperCamp Kenya.  When I came to Kenya in 1998 as an exchange student at Daystar University, I had several experiences that revealed a great need to help bridge the learning gap for children in Kenya.  I felt a fire inside me that ignited a sense of purpose to come back to Kenya and help bridge that gap. Fast forward 20 years later, I am here in Kenya running an academic and life-skills program called SuperCamp Kenya .

It is predicted that by 2030 , the number of youths in Africa will have increased by 42% where 42 million in the East African Community   are youth between 15 and 24 years old.

The population of youth in Africa, and in Kenya, is growing at an alarming rate. With globalization, it is of great importance to invest in the development of these youth and set them up for success in the Global Marketplace to help solve the world’s next BIG problems.

In Kenya, the challenge is that most families are not financially able to educate and train their children to the capacity or level that is needed for world leaders to evolve.  According to a recent survey done by Ipsos Public Affairs , nearly half of Kenyan households earn less than Sh10,000 ($100 USD) per month while two percent have completely no income ($0).

Since 2003, Primary Education is free and compulsory for all Kenyans. In 2008, the government introduced plans to offer free Secondary education to all Kenyans.  This caused overcrowding and a lack of resources in public schools, which  widened the learning gap due to time constraints, understaffed teachers, and lack of extracurricular and social activities.

This is where SuperCamp Kenya can help bridge that gap.  We make great kids greater by providing experiential learning programs that help students succeed both personally and academically.

At SuperCamp Kenya, we teach the 8 Keys of Excellence  which provide a framework for success in life. They guide students toward a positive future full of confidence, motivation, creativity, teamwork, and leadership.

At our Success Summit, Students will have a blast while developing time management and organization skills, social and emotional awareness, independent thinking and confidence, ownership and motivation.  They will experience a shift in learning through academic enrichment sessions, physical activities, personal growth, character building exercises and team building activities.

We’d like to ask you to partner with us in training 1,000 youth aged 12-17 in Leadership, Life and Academic Skills so that they are equipped to lead themselves and others and solve the world’s BIG problems.

We are looking for 500 people to give a minimum of $100 towards our initiative. Of course gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated!
