Making Christmas Real

Friends:  I have been working in the mental health field for 36 years.  Very seldom do I get kicked in the gut by a young person's situation anymore.  That said, I have been so kicked.

It is far from uncommon for me to deal with young people living with substance abusing adults, domestic violence, child abuse (in all of its forms), and homelessness.  Today was different.  It was a kid asking for a break from despair.  

I want to make a young person's desire to turn this Christmas into a wonderful moment for her, her brother and mother (living in a camper), and the nine people she shares living space with hoping that her mother can find a real home.

My school community will make Christmas brighter for so many of our kids.  I want this one to be special.  I want this kid to know that they are not alone.

We have been blessed.  I want to ask you all to pay it forward.

Please take just a minute and dig deep.

I want this kid to know love.

Please help.
