Major Rebuild Love Fund

On December 31, 2017 at about 11:30pm, my families lives were turned upside down.  It all started with a celebration at my parents house.  We were welcoming the New Year in the most traditional way we knew how... finger foods and fireworks.  The attendees included the "norm"... my Father (Don Major), my Mother (Sherrie Major), my Brother (McKel "Kel" Major), his girlfriend (Kaitlyn), one of my very close friends (Gena) and her little girl, and my husband (Chase Abercrombie) and myself.

Once our tradition had commenced and we were all inside in front of the TV waiting on the ball to drop in Times Square, instead of the ball, our world dropped.  My brother and father noticed the fire alarm upstairs in my brother's room going off.  Not thinking too much of it my Father went upstairs to see why, thinking maybe the batteries are dead, when he was met by an indescribable sight.  The next thing we heard was the word, "FIRE" and from that moment we were all out on the front lawn speechless.

My Dad had somehow managed to get down the stairs, screaming at my brother telling us to get out, him out the door before any of us had time to blink, and he already had the hose with the water blaring on the fire yelling to call 911.  Please keep in mind that in order to even get to the hose my father had to go behind where the fire started in the first place.  How he managed to do this and not get hurt has left us completely puzzled and him speechless.... (ONLY GOD!!)

After three 911 calls, 10-15 min wait for the fire dept to arrive, us all standing outside with majority of us in no shoes and nothing but the clothes on our backs, my friend Gena running back in to save our animals, and a MASSIVE amount to chaos... we are left with very hurt but faith filled hearts.   We know God has a plan and we are doing our absolute best to trust in him!

From what we have gathered by conversations amongst ourselves and investigating the debri today (1/1/2017), we believe the fire was caused by an un-fully extinguished firework being placed into the trash can which sat at the back of the house where the fire started.   The fire completely demolished and engulfed my brother's room, as well as my parents room.  Everything they own is gone or completely destroyed with smoke damage and is likely to be irreversible or totaled.

My other family, friends, and so many others have displayed so much generosity already with even just a simple statement by saying they are praying for us, not to mention so much more! I am now asking if maybe you have a small amount of generosity you wouldn't mind sparing more.  I don't know what to ask for specifically in the terms of an amount because we all are still unsure the full extense of the damage, but I do know that any little bit can help the people who I and so many other, consider to be the most generous, selfless, loving people we have ever known get back on their feet.

My Husband and I (and many other family members) have managed to grab as many items as we can to atleast put clothes on their back, but it is not even close to enough.  My Father and Brother especially.  All I am asking is if you have the heart to give and don't know where to, please help my family!  Or if you have a special place in your heart for my family and can give, I'm begging you to please do so! If you can't give here or would rather give in another manner and you have clothes or shoes you don't need that will fit them (I will post the sizes below), or feel more comfortable giving them a gift card, any little bit helps them right now.  (If you prefer either of these routes, please email me at [email redacted] so we can discuss retrieval options)

Lastly, as we always say, prayer will help us more than anything else. Please pray for my family that we all heal. Please pray this trial will end smoothly and that God's Will will be done. And finally please pray for my families health.  Mentally this takes a toll on people and I love my family more than words and just want them to be ok!

Please help me get this incredible families feet back on the ground in anyway you can!  I love you all tremendously and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Sincerely,
McKenzie Abercrombie
(Daughter of Donnie and Sherrie Major)
