I am about to take a leap of faith and will leave in March 2018 to attend a 5-month Adventure Discipleship Training School, beginning March 11th, through the Youth With a Mission program in Madrid, Spain, with a focus of children’s ministry and refugees. For years, I have allowed fear to hold me back from living out my calling, but not anymore. I am fully trusting God, no longer shackled by fear!
I remember the first time I fell in love with ministry. My church’s youth group was in Florida and I was about to lead a gymnasium full of youth in worship. I had never done that before and was feeling terribly nervous and inadequate. But when I opened my mouth and began to sing and dance, I knew that God had put me exactly where I belonged!
I have been extremely blessed working with the youth in my church’s outreach ministry through our bilingual and spanish services, youth and children’s ministry, and as an elementary school teacher. However, I see an even larger population of young people that need spiritual guidance in other parts of the world. But, I realize that I need guidance and training for my life’s dream/mission to succeed.
During the month of August, God gave me the word to go and MEET NO STRANGERS. “...when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’’ Matthew 25: 40. While it may have been an uncomfortable thought to interact with complete strangers, being obedient to His word blessed me. I now have the opportunity to begin living out what God has called me to do!
