Maine Center for Electronic Music
Donation protected
Our mission is to release dance music culture from the grips of addiction, dead end production and stigma by creating opportunities for development, performance and presentation.
Maine Center for Electronic Music (MCEM) was created by Derek Jackson, director of the multi-media performance group Hi Tiger, in partnership with Zero Station. In building a structure for sharing content and resources, we designed MCEM as a way to support artists from economically, geographically and culturally marginalized communities who are seeking development in the areas of music, visual art and performance. Extending from the history of flash raves, we inhabit vacant or unused spaces and fill them with programming; turning them into temporary institutions devoted to the art and culture of dance music.
