Water Well In Memory of Maha & Dina
It is with grieving hearts that we mourn the loss of our mentors and very good friends, Maha El Meseery & Dina Said. They did so much for the Regina, Surrey and Calgary communities. Anywhere they set foot, they gave of their time and energy. They did not give 100% to everything they did. They gave 150% and more. They was the type of person that would always be there for those who needed them. Their smiles were so contagious and they had the biggest hearts.
In their memory, we are raising money for a water well project to provide clean water access to those in need. This is a cause they were so interested in. As we grieve the loss of our dear friends, we continue on their legacy of giving back to their community. The target is to build a water well in Somalia. Please donate generously.

Who you are and where you’re from?
Hossam Kiwan, born and raised in Egypt, lived in England and moved to Regina, SK, Canada for my post graduate degree. So I am based in Canada. The rest of the team include Maha and Dina's siblings, relatives, very close friends, room mates, class mates, school colleagues and co-workers. The team members are Ahmed AbdelHamid, Ahmed M Medra, Amr Elmashta, Anan Ahmed, Aseel Ayoub, Engy Foda, Hebatu-Allah Fahmy, Hossam Kiwan, Ibrahim El Messery, Khaled AlAshmouny, Kholoud El-Meseery, Labiba Aboguddah, Mohamed A. Mabrok, Mostafa Elhoushi, Muaz Salama and Waleed Ammar. They are from Egypt, the US and Canada.
Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for
I know Maha since 2014. Maha and I studied in University of Regina, SK, Canada. Both of us volunteered for several university groups that assist new students and international students on campus. We also volunteered for a number of community organizations that serve the refugees and newcomers, and organize fun and educational activities for kids, youth and women between 2014 to 2016 in Regina, SK. I knew Dina since 2012. She assisted me and others many times. She provided guidance to me in some personal and educational matters. I am very grateful to her. She is a researcher, a lecturer, a writer, a community helper, a volunteer in so many community projects and co-founder of a few charitable organizations for empowerment of youth, women, newcomers, patients and needy. Maha and Dina were born and raised in Egypt. Dina is Maha's best friend. They moved to Canada to earn their post graduate studies. They worked together for the same goal, creating a better future for others, and they died together.
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible)
Last year, there was a severe drought and a famine in Somalia. Out of our good will, we, as friends and volunteers from Regina, SK, Canada, decided to raise funds, to establish a water well project near by a school in the affected area. So kids of the poor would have access to clean water in that remote area. A volunteer traveled over there from his own pocket to get all arrangements done with the help of MAMA ASHA Foundation; the paper work done, hire the workers and follow up till they completed there work. The authorities provided all required permits and the project was successful. The video below the story shows the water well project. The project costed 7,000 Canadian dollars. There is a dire need for more water well projects in these remote areas.
After we got the very sad news about the death of Maha Elmeseery and Dina Said, we decided to raise funds for a new water well in their living memory. As soon as, the campaign raises the targeted funds, our volunteer will travel again from Canada to get all arrangements done with the help of MAMA ASHA Foundation; the paper work, hire workers and follow up the project till it is completed. His trip and stay will be covered from his own pocket, not from the fund raised for the project. This is how the funds will be spent.

Funds are transferred via bank transfers. Withdrawals are set on weekly bases to enable friends and relatives of Maha Elmeseery and Dina Said to encourage others to support this noble cause.
