Camp Celiac For my Two Girls

Donation protected

This request.. campaign.. is in hopes of raising the money to send my two girls to Camp Celiac in Rhode Island..

Diagnosed with Celiac disease has been a continual adjustment for the entire family... and doing whatever it takes to keep all the kids safe and healthy.

My name is Mike Magno and I am raising money for my two girls Jessie and Micaela , both of whom suffer from Celiac Disease; to attend Camp Celiac this summer. There are only 150 spaces available and we have to sign up February 1st.

Not allowing us much time to raise this money but knowing now how important it is to the kids we decided to reach out to the world hoping to give the kids a week of worry free camping created and operated for children that suffer with celiac disease

... everything from birthday parties, playing with other kids.. it is all very delicate because even contact with food or items cross contaminated with anything gluten can make the girls throw up and sick ... spontaneous doesn't exist for them.. everything has to be planned. This camp is made for kids with this disease.. created for a week of worry free fun and all absent of gluten...

Camp Celiac is $625 per child and started in 2000.  This camp provides a worry free week for the kids ages 8-16 built to work with their disease.. totally gluten free.. a safe envrionment ..  Click Here For the Official Page of Camp Celiac

All three of my kids were tested for celiac and as expected my two girls tested positive.  Celiac disease is a serious genetic autoimmune disorder where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. It is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide. Two and one-half million Americans are undiagnosed and are at risk for long-term health complications.

My daughter Jessie was beginning to feel sick all day.. it seemed everyday..  We finally sent her to a specialist in Syracuse that conducted test after test and knowing that so many people have an "intolerance" to Celiac it was very important to find out exactly what her situation is...  Both she and my youngest had to have a biopsy and when the results came back both are part of the .7% falling in to the category of the disease.

Please do not misinterpret this request for help as charity.. this campaign is to send the girls to this camp.. and I know both would be jumping with excitement and look forward to sending everyone that helped a personal thank you card..

Thank you for reading..

Sincerely,

Mike Magno
