Dear friends,
5-year-old cancer-fighter Maggie Holton has hosted a series of events to help raise money to build a new, safe, handicap-accessible playground for Huntington’s Ronald McDonald House. Her goal is to raise $50,000. I am writing to ask you to join her mission and make a donation toward this cause.
While we currently have a playground, it is many years old, wooden, and not accessible for special needs children, like Maggie’s friend Jacob who stays at RMH more often than his home. Jacob is wheelchair-bound, and requires a special swing that costs $1,500. Maggie won’t quit fundraising until Jacob has that swing.
If you’re not familiar with us, Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for children battling horrific illnesses or medical conditions. Families come to us, facing their worst nightmare. We offer them hotel-style lodging, prepared meals, toiletries, and lots of fun things for children, including a library, a playroom and a playground.
Maggie has been fighting Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a cancer that attacks her nervous system. It’s one of the nastiest cancers, but she’s tough. She was recently told she is NED (no evidence of disease) which is nothing short of a miracle. And Maggie is a miracle to Ronald McDonald House. She helps bring awareness to our mission, and serves as a spokesmodel at events!
We sincerely appreciate any help you are able to provide toward our goal of helping sick children have access to the best healthcare to find their cures – and taking care of mommy and daddy, too. We couldn’t do it without the generosity of our community.
Donations of $500 or more are eligible for NIP WV tax credits, until we run out of credits. This means you'll receive half of your donation back in tax credit.
