Historic Madison's Coffee House

My birth town and state, Bastrop, Louisiana is so charming in the Historic District in particularly. Since the International Paper Mill closed , devasting families and this community economically; things just have never been the same and the community is still trying to heal. I look around town in the morning and I see various groups of people drinking coffee all scattered around the town wherever they can gather ; it can be at the gas station or barber shop but there is no real gathering place that really promotes community and social interaction so , I purchased a $2,000 square foot building off the square in the Historic District that I thought would be the perfect coffee shop for Bastrop and surrounding communities as well as for people traveling back and forth and doing business in Bastrop. The building is over 100 years old and needs some tender loving care. I applied for a historic grant to assist with renovating the building . It is in need of electrical and plumbing renovations , painting of the interior and exterior as well as flooring.  I would like to open by Spring., April, 20016.  Madison's Coffee House has received a tremendous amount of support from the community on it's Facebook page and my vision of this community coffee shop is for it to be a warm, and inviting place where people can gather, read books, have meetings, work on their computers with Wi Fi and just plain hang out ; read the paper and drink coffee. Bastrop has become quite a retirement community and is very rural and many of the residents can't afford and do not have wifi in their homes. I want this coffee house to be a place to bring more healing to the community and I want to have a board where people sign their names and pay for a cup of coffee for a homeless or less fortunate individual. I want to offer senior citizen discounts and I want to have jazz, blues and Motown playing  and hopefully if the little courtyard next door to it is acquired, I want people to be able to sit outside and sip on sweet tea or coffee and have some live entertainment from time to time. The community of Bastrop needs and wants a nice coffee shop so will you please help to make this coffee shop a reality and one that generations can and will enjoy for a very long time. I am a Registered Nurse as well for the past 32 years and I know I can promote more healing with this coffee shop, one cup at a time.
