Mack Moriarty is the two year old son of Nick and Amber Moriarty. Mack is always looking for a laugh and loves to wrestle, be tickled, and play with cars. Mack has recently been diagnosed with cancer, which was discovered in his brain and in his spinal column. There was a tumor on his brain the size of an egg. He had brain surgery this past weekend, the last weekend in February 2017. They removed most of the tumor but could not get it all because it was attached to the brain stem. It was malignant. Pathology is still not definitive but has been narrowed down to one of two types and they are starting chemotherapy immediately due to concern over the large amount of cancer around his spine. The family is devastated, as you would expect, and is hanging on through the power of their faith in God and the love and support from their friends, their families and their church family, past and present. We are starting this journal to give people a place to get updates and to contribute to their financial needs, which will be considerable and which many have asked for the opportunity to help with.

They have definitely determined that Mack has medulloblastoma and will be starting chemo tomorrow. He is back at the hospital after being able to spend the weekend with his family in his home, a real blessing. He will be in the hospital for 5-6 days, home for 2 weeks and then back in for another 5-6 days and repeat that through 3 cycles. Then the next cycle will begin with longer times in between treatments. One of the hardest things - the hardest being what this will do to his body - is him not knowing why this is happening. Like Nick said today: "I wish I could warn him." Your continued prayers are very much appreciated.

The doctors are doing final testing over the weekend to determine which of two types of cancer Mack has. They want to be 100% sure before beginning treatment. As of today, they predict chemo will start on Tuesday. Regardless of which type it is, the chemicals Mack will be treated with are harsh and the side effects will be severe. Please continue to pray for this very special little boy and his parents - the next year will be very, very hard. The family is spending the weekend together and would appreciate if everyone would respect their desire for privacy at this time. Nick and Amber have both said they cannot begin to express their gratitude for all of the thoughts, donations, expressions of love, and above all, prayers.
