My name is Valerio Saint-Louis I am a media personality /journalist along with other concerned Haitian citizens living in the diaspora and in Haiti we decided to create that campaign in order to help and change people's life in order to influence the betterment of our country.
After a long period of planning I have decided to start working on helping to better the life of a "Machan Chabon" a charcoal vendor in the streets of Port-au- Prince, Haiti.
This Machan Chabon will finally have a pampering day which she will remember for the rest of her life by undergoing a total makeover .
She will be taking to the hair salon for a new hairdo then to an upscale spa for a facial, a massage, manicure and pedicure. We will continue this memorable day by taking her shopping for new clothes, dining in the finest restaurant, staying at a five star hotel for the night with her family , and at the end a substantial amount of money will be allocated for the growth of her business.
We are looking to raise funds to help us change the life of a Machan chabon and at the same time stop Haiti's deforestation by offering her a better alternative with synthetic charcoal so they can stop cutting the trees..
We need the funds to implement this project.

The Machann Chabon name is Sonia Frank she is 37 years old with 3 kids on her own with no husband, Sonia is a poor lady striving to make a living despite her difficult situations in Haiti, we will be helping better her life by first doing a make over for her, she will be picked up on a vehicle with chauffeur and taken to stores in Petion-Ville so she can shop for her self and her kids then to a beauty salon for a pampering day she will go to a nice restaurant for a nice dinner, she will go food shopping to a local supermarket and finally she will rest at a five stars hotel .
Money will be given to her in order to set up her business the proper way, she will be educated on how to conduct her business and make profit, then we will purchase the synthetic charcoal for her to resell so she can start changing people's habit on using wood charcoal witch is the main cause of the deforestation of our beloved country Haiti.
All that will be documented by our team of professional filmmakers to show to the rest of the world how we can put our hands together in other to better some one's life and in consequences better our country.

" Amelyore Lavi " means "To better Life", it is a Humanitarian social project designed to help the underprivileged Haitian men and women to better themselves socially and economically. We want them to experience social mobility in their lives so they can live happy and be more productive in society.

Our mission is to help better the life of a group of Haitian street vendors one at a time. This particular project tackles three specific aspects : Social, Economic and Ecological.

According to World Bank census 2000 the rapid deforestation of Haiti results with an estimated 6,000 hectares of soil lost each year. Charcoal and fire wood provide 85 to 90 percent of Haiti's energy for home and industrial use. Similarly, 62 percent of Port-Au-Prince's population relies solely on charcoal for cooking and heating, amounting to roughly 0.44 kg per person per day With an annual deforestation rate of 5.7 percent, Haiti's remaining 880 km2 of forested land is gravely threatened thus based on all those alarming facts we have selected a charcoal vendor (Machann Chabon) as a pilot model for this project whose mission is to impact the lives of thousand of other street vendors like her and help prevent Haiti's imminent deforestation.

We are currently raising funds to help better the life of a "Machann Chabon" a charcoal vendor in the streets of Haiti . We have big dreams for the Machann Chabon but only through generous donations from individuals and businesses like yours would we be able to provide this Machann Chabon with life's changing opportunities for her and in consequences help prevent the deforestation of Haiti.

We are anxiously looking forward to start implementing this great project for the month of June.

The first phase of the project consist of a makeover . The Machann chabon lady chosen will undergo a complete physical makeover. On a specific day she will be pick up early in the morning by a chauffeur who will drive her to an upscale hair salon/spa where she will be pampered from head to toe by getting a new hairstyle, deep facial cleansing, make up, manicure and pedicure ending with a relaxing deep tissue massage, she will then proceed to go shop for new clothes for her and her children and together they will be able to dine at one of the finest restaurants and she would also spend two nights at a luxurious hotel in Petion-Ville along with her family.

The second phase of the project will concentrate on her finances , we want her business to grow so her life can be better therefore we will allocate funds to help change the particular of the nature of her business. The funds allocated to the charcoal vendor (Machann Chabon) will enable her to buy more goods to resell therefore moving her up the social ladder instantly from being a struggling Machann Chabon to a funded charcoal dealer using an adapted micro -credit system.

We firmly believe in preserving our ecological environment. In Haiti, charcoals are made of wood which leads to deforestation and environmental degradation, this practice must be stopped before it becomes more crucial leading to constant erosion.

The Third phase of the project will be implemented by educating our Machann Chabon about the devastating effect of the use of charcoal made out of wood. While educating her we will also work on gradually changing her habit of using and selling charcoal made out of wood. We have partnered with a local company manufacturer of a synthetic charcoal made out of bio degradable products (garbage). this synthetic charcoal is cleaner, produces lees fums, last longer and is cheaper then wood cheap or fuel . Our Machann Chabon will switch to synthetic charcoal and impact her surrounding to do the same.
