My name is Arthur Rocha and I am currently a volunteer at the Maclean Animal Adoption Center (MAAC) where I have been volunteering for the past ten months. While volunteering at the MAAC I have mainly spent my time with dogs. I am able to take them for walks, play with them in the training room and I also teach them basic commands including sit, down and no jumping.This GoFundMe page has been created to help the dogs at the MAAC have the opportunity to socialize and become more friendly.
The MAAC, located at 900 25th Avenue NE in Great Falls, MT, is a 13,600 square foot facility that provides temporary shelter to cats and dogs in a safe, pleasant and humane environment. Since opening in August of 2015, the MAAC has helped find forever homes for over 930 cats and dogs . The MAAC non-profit organization that runs primarily by donations.
Dogs that are not agressive towards people and also good with other dogs are typically the ones that are adopted first. Most of the dogs that we have had in our care have not shown aggressiveness towards humans, but have shown aggressiveness while interacting with other dogs.
Dogs are social creatures and need to interact with other dogs to have a healthy life. "As descendants of wolves, dogs are instinctual pack animals. They instinctually seek to join whatever pack is nearby. This explains why dogs can get along so well with so many other animals, especially other pack or herd animals like horses, cows, and sheep. There's even at least one case of a dog and elephant becoming best friends.
It's also why dogs have bonded so well with humans. We too are social creatures and dogs instinctually sense that and seek to join our pack. "(Cesar Milan)
My goal its to raise $6,000.00 to build an outdoor enclosure which will help provide more space for the dogs to exercise and interact with each other in a positive manner. This outdoor enclosure will consist of a high fence that will prevent dogs from escaping, making it a safe place for several dogs to run around and play together. This addition to the MAAC will be a great way for dogs to burn energy and become more social which will help them find their forever homes! Thank you for your support of the MAAC!
