Bring the Ability Exhibit to ANHS
Donation protected
I am a senior at Appleton North High School, and I have a brother named Michael who has autism. Last year was the first year my brother and I attended the same school. It was different seeing him in the hallways and saying “Hi” to him, but it seemed as if I was the only one who acknowledged him. At first I didn’t understand, because Michael is outgoing and loves to make new friends. Then I started to realize that people don’t know how to interact with him because they were uncomfortable, they were scared, and they were nervous. I wouldn’t blame them though; Michael interacts with people in an unconventional way.
Our community would benefit greatly by learning about disabilities. When you learn about something, you become comfortable with it.
That is why I would like to bring the Allies for Inclusion: Ability Exhibit to Appleton North. This exhibit will not only benefit Appleton North High School, it will benefit the entire community. Appleton North would be the first high school in the nation to host the Ability Exhibit.
