When tragedy strikes, you pray every day for that miracle to happen. Days turn into weeks, weeks to months, and even longer. The road is long and difficult, meeting many obstacles along the way.
On August 24th, 2015, life as they knew it changed forever when Brandon Richards was struck from behind, throwing his vehicle into the oncoming lane. He was struck head-on by a pick up truck and suffered a severe head injury. He remains in the pediatric unit of Essentia Health, St Mary's Medical Center, after 13 days in a coma.
Brandon is 17 years old . A previously healthy teen, he loved to golf and was a groundskeeper at The Wilderness Golf course near Tower, Mn. He excelled in the sport, and last year advanced to state as a junior in high school. He was looking forward to his senior year, and going to state again.
In addition to the loss of that dream,
the family has lost time from work, and have yet a long ways to go before Brandon will be near ready for discharge. There will be lodging costs, meals, gas, items for Brandon; as well as lost wages, as the recovery continues.
The family is grateful for any donations received for the ongoing care for Brandon. The love and support seen through the caring bridge site has been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone.
