Lyra Rhythm's Heart -- Help Keep The Beat

Donation protected
My name is Sean.  My fiance, Amanda, and I have just welcomed our second daughter, Lyra, into the world at 3:22pm on 06/12/2019.  We are 32 and 33 years old, and have a 14-month old daughter named Lumen.  Amanda's side of the family has a known hereditary heart condition, for which many (including Amanda) are equipped with permanent pacemakers.  In Lyra, this condition has manifested as a narrow aorta and small left-chambers in the heart, for which surgery will be necessary in her first week of life.

Her birthday was the most difficult day of our lives to date.  It was seven hours before Amanda got to hold her new daughter, and even so she has shown more strength than I'll ever be capable of.  I have a long list of fears, and I'm reaching out for help because I'm at a loss for how I can cover the cost of care and take care of my family.  The doctor described the treatment she will need as a "Norwood Procedure," in which the heart will be altered so that the left and right hemispheres will beat together.  It is extremely high-risk and I'm nearly numb with fear.

We were informed of insurance stipulations that prevent Lyra from being covered by Amanda's Medi-Cal, and my insurance from work will take thirty days to activate for any new addition.  Since we welcomed our first daughter, I have been the only one working.  I just started a new job in February, making a salary of $55,000/year (the most money I've ever earned to date), but am the sole provider of our family of 4, plus our border collie, Zoey.  I am too new at my job to be eligible for any type of paid leave, so any time I take away to take care of my family during this event is going to be unpaid time.

I'm simply feeling desperate and humble.  I set the donation goal at an absurdly-high ceiling because I have no idea how much money I will need in the near future to keep my family afloat.  I do not live frivolously, and I am fully prepared to account for every penny donated, immediately and any time I am asked.  I have never asked for this type of help before, and I will be eternally grateful to any and all who can find it within their power to contribute.  I vow to spend the rest of my life paying it back, or forward, or to the world in general.

Help me give my baby girl a chance.  Thank you so much.
