Lyons Gives Back (Paradise: Camp Fire Relief)

Lyons Gives Back to Paradise, CA.... In 2013, the town of Lyons, Colorado was devastated by a historic flood that severely damaged the town and destroyed homes. In the aftermath, the community of Lyons was lifted up by the support and donations of people from all over the country. Students at Lyons Middle / Senior Schools remembered this and felt it was time to return the favor! And they are right.

On November 8th, 2018 the small town of Paradise, California was largely destroyed by the Camp Fire. More than 13,000 homes were destroyed and over 500 businesses. More than 80 people were killed and just over 200 remain missing. It is one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States in decades and the most destructive fire in California history.

Like Lyons, Paradise is a foothills community that sits near the lively college town of Chico, California (similar to Boulder). Over 80% of the population of 26,000 lost homes on November 8th. This recovery will take many many years. The town will need to be completely rebuilt.

We are raising money for North Valley Community Foundation's Camp Fire Relief Fund, and any donation will help make impact. The NVCF is a local organization who is ensuring that all of the incoming donations will go to local organizations quickly to help the greater Paradise community.
