When I was 21 years old my life turned upside down, I went through my first diagnoses of Cancer. Pancreatic. After intense chemo therapy and radiation, I was declared in remission for the first time. Then it happened again, I was diagnosed for a second time and my journey was far from over. In November of 2017 it came back, and it was my senior year in college and I wanted to beat it. In March of 2018 I beat pancreatic cancer again and I thought my life was better. After plenty of emergency surgeries and more scars than I can count. In August I was going to be dealt another curve ball. I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.) In most cases, very treatable and curable. But in my case not so much. I need a bone marrow transplant, and after getting a very serious infection in my blood that almost killed me, the sooner the better. This time they gave me a life sentence that I am determined to beat.

I am 22 years old, I live in Trumbull CT and I enjoy being with family, my dog, and whenever I can, I like to give back to the community. Being the community service chair for the class of 2018 in student government at Sacred Heart University allowed me to share my passion and help others with a hunger project that donated over 50,000 meals to those in need. That is my life, and that is my purpose; to help others.
I now need to ask for the help for myself. Part of being human is to know when to ask for help and that time is now. I cannot afford to take time off work, or to get the bone marrow transplant even with insurance.

If I do not get this bone marrow transplant, things are going to get very messy for me very quickly. The doctors have told me that unless I find a marrow match within 3 months, I have 6 months to live.

With the incredible doctors at Sloan, any amount can help to save a life of one who has dedicated her life to helping others. You can also join the marrow donor registry maintained through The National Marrow Donor Program at: https://bethematch.org/
