Luna needs your help in her fight to stay alive

Tax deductible

Meet Luna!  A happy girl  formerly known as Camilla  -  she came to Hopalong Hollow several years ago as an unwanted bunny girl.  Two years ago she became disabled and lost the use of her hind legs due to a stroke.  Last year she survived a burst abscess in her respiratory passages and had her first miracle surviving the episode.  Today she needs a second miracle.  Luna has come down with a blockage in her cecum causing bloat as well as a mild case of pneumonia in both of her lungs.  She is at the South Wilton Vet Group in Wilton currently getting IV fluids, motility drugs,  tranquilizers and heavy duty pain medication.  She is such a fighter we felt we needed to give her a chance as she is making it obvious she is not ready to leave this world. After one day of hospitalization she has already started to nibble on food, The fluids are working to hydrate the blockage, the tranquilizers and pain medications are keeping her calm and comfortable and giving the antibiotics and motility drugs time to do their job.  We feel her pain is well controlled and she is showing us she wants to live by starting to eat.  Her high temperature from the pneumonia has already dropped a degree and it appears the pneumonia is starting to respond to treatment.   She needs intense supportive care for a day or two to allow all the drugs to do their jobs,.  Luna lives with her favorite person, Lisa,  who is her foster mom.  Many of us know Lisa who specializes in wildlife rabbit rehab and has given Luna a wonderful life rich in experiences and happiness.  Our Luna has become a celebrity with all the facebook postings!  Unfortunately, supportive care at the vets is expensive and we are asking your help to cover some of the costs,  Luna will return to Lisa as soon as it is safe and Lisa will continue the supportive care until she is recovered but we are looking at estimated expenses of about $1500.  Please can you help Luna?  I have included the  x-rays and when an actual estimate of costs is available from the vet that will be posted also.  We are doing  out best to keep costs down but emergency care is expensive and essential if Luna is to survive.   Luna is not out of the woods yet but we are very hopeful.
