BIRTHING LUMINOUS: A BOOK OF SOUL POETRY
Dear Friends~
Exciting news! I am ready to publish my poetry book Luminous—a book that has been a long time coming and is finally ready to be born! And, in order to bring Luminous into the world, I am asking for your help to cover the costs of book design, formatting, and printing. I am initiating this Go Fund Me campaign to raise the $5000 needed to cover these production costs--and am hoping to raise these funds by October 20th. This financial support will mean I am able to bring a long time dream of mine to fruition~and to share this creation with you all and the world. I plan to publish and release the book by mid November 2017
Luminous was actually “complete” a year ago—but as some of you know, in April 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. For a full cycle of the wheel, I turned deeply into my healing journey and to the rest and internal alchemy required for my healing. Currently, I feel incredibly blessed to share that I am healthy and cancer-free— and just now beginning to integrate all that has happened in the last year and half.
One of the gifts of my cancer journey is that it rearranged my life in some profound ways—and in doing so, it also rearranged Luminous. Since my diagnosis and treatment, I have written and added many new poems to the collection. In a way, as I was rewritten as a person, the book was re-written too—and I am grateful that the book now includes poems from the woman of me who experienced cancer—as it brings a whole other perspective and a deepened sense of gratitude for the preciousness of life.
Over the last years, many of you have read and heard my work on-line, during a retreat, in a workshop, or on my blog SoulPassages—and have encouraged me to create a volume of poetry—a physical, in the flesh, BOOK that could be shared with the world. Thanks for this encouragement! I am thrilled to arrive at this moment—and truly hope Luminous will bring joy and inspiration.
To honor your donations—I am offering a number of gifts.
· For $50 and over: I have collaborated with my mother –author and teacher Pam Hale Trachta (throughadifferentlens.com) and sound healer Tryshe Devney (soundshifting.com)-- to create a series of beautiful tracks that include my poetry, my mother’s meditations based on my poems, and Tryshe’s exquisite singing bowls and vocals. For a $50 contribution, I will send you two MP3's of these wonderful recordings.
· For $100 and over: I will send a signed copy of the book when it is released.
· For $500 and over: I will send 5 signed copies of the book when it is released.
And, to honor your essential contribution, I will also list all donor names in an acknowledgement section of the book. Or, if you prefer, you can remain an anonymous donor.
More about Luminous:
The 44 poems of the book are both deeply personal and reflective of the universal and collective themes we each encounter on our soul’s journey. After each poem, you will find reflection questions to support you to make your own personal connections to the poems. In this way, the book can be used as a kind of daily or weekly reflection or inspiration for deeper conversations with yourself or with others.
These poems are written to be shared, to be read outloud, to be read many times. They are multi-faceted and reveal themselves more deeply upon repeating—in part, because of the alchemy that happens when you bring your stories, visions, dreams, and associations to them. I see readers not as recipients of this work, but as soul friends on the path, as kin in a heartfelt conversation, as companion dancers in the great Dance.
And so, during this harvest season, I offer
Luminous as my soul song. And, I see Luminous as the first of many books and projects that are coming through me right now, as I go through my own post-cancer rebirth into a whole new life and way of being.
