Birthing a Book of Soul Poetry!

$5,150 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 63 people in 11 months

Dear Friends~

Exciting news! I am ready to publish my poetry book Luminous—a book that has been a long time coming and is finally ready to be born! And, in order to bring Luminous into the world, I am asking for your help to cover the costs of book design, formatting, and printing. I am initiating this Go Fund Me campaign to raise the $5000 needed to cover these production costs--and am hoping to raise these funds by October 20th. This financial support will mean I am able to bring a long time dream of mine to fruition~and to share this creation with you all and the world.  I plan to publish and release the book by mid November 2017

Luminous  was actually “complete” a year ago—but as some of you know, in April 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. For a full cycle of the wheel, I turned deeply into my healing journey and to the rest and internal alchemy required for my healing. Currently, I feel incredibly blessed to share that I am healthy and cancer-free— and just now beginning to integrate all that has happened in the last year and half.

One of the gifts of my cancer journey is that it rearranged my life in some profound ways—and in doing so, it also rearranged Luminous. Since my diagnosis and treatment, I have written and added many new poems to the collection. In a way, as I was rewritten as a person, the book was re-written too—and I am grateful that the book now includes poems from the woman of me who experienced cancer—as it brings a whole other perspective and a deepened sense of gratitude for the preciousness of life.

Over the last years, many of you have read and heard my work on-line, during a retreat, in a workshop, or on my blog SoulPassages—and have encouraged me to create a volume of poetry—a physical, in the flesh, BOOK that could be shared with the world. Thanks for this encouragement! I am thrilled to arrive at this moment—and truly hope Luminous will bring joy and inspiration.

To honor your donations—I am offering a number of gifts.

·      For $50 and over: I have collaborated with my mother –author and teacher Pam Hale Trachta (throughadifferentlens.com) and sound healer Tryshe Devney (soundshifting.com)-- to create a series of beautiful tracks that include my poetry, my mother’s meditations based on my poems, and Tryshe’s exquisite singing bowls and vocals. For a $50 contribution, I will send you two MP3's of these wonderful recordings.

·      For $100 and over:  I will send a signed copy of the book when it is released.

·      For $500 and over: I will send 5 signed copies of the book when it is released.

And, to honor your essential contribution, I will also list all donor names in an acknowledgement section of the book. Or, if you prefer, you can remain an anonymous donor.

More about Luminous:

The 44 poems of the book are both deeply personal and reflective of the universal and collective themes we each encounter on our soul’s journey. After each poem, you will find reflection questions to support you to make your own personal connections to the poems. In this way, the book can be used as a kind of daily or weekly reflection or inspiration for deeper conversations with yourself or with others.

These poems are written to be shared, to be read outloud, to be read many times. They are multi-faceted and reveal themselves more deeply upon repeating—in part, because of the alchemy that happens when you bring your stories, visions, dreams, and associations to them.  I see readers not as recipients of this work, but as soul friends on the path, as kin in a heartfelt conversation, as companion dancers in the great Dance.

And so, during this harvest season, I offer
Luminous as my soul song. And, I see Luminous as the first of many books and projects that are coming through me right now, as I go through my own post-cancer rebirth into a whole new life and way of being.

I hope you will consider contributing to this project! Thank you for supporting the birth of Luminous!

Dear friends of Luminous~
Life is full of mystery--and my life has taken a mysterious turn. Two weeks ago I found out that I have had a recurrence of my breast cancer--and the last weeks have been a whirlwind of doctor's appointments, procedures and diagnostics. I have been riding the waves and barely able to catch a breath between sets. I have started treatment and am feeling hopeful about the path ahead.

This weekend I am grateful to be able to finally write to all of you and let you know a few things.

The first: due to all of your generosity, I have met my Go Fund me Goal! Thank you so much to all who have contributed.

The second: I am still absolutely committed to the publication of Luminous--I am actually in the very last stages with my designer and then will package the book up for publication and begin the publication phase. So please forgive the delays and know the book IS coming. It just seems to have its own time table.

Thank you again for supporting me in this project--Luminous is so close to my heart--especially at this time.

Big hugs,

Hello beautiful people! I am flying off to lead a two week journey to Ecuador today for Pachamama Alliance--and so excited for the group and the time with the rainforest!

So....wanted to give you an update on the book! It IS happening--and wow have I had to let go the timing of this book, which is not what my ego likes!

I have just finished the book cover design and inlay. It has been quite a journey with my designer--and there have been multiple unexpected delays. But we have arrived! That means it will go off to the publisher for a review copy early April and will hopefully be released (calling all angels!) by end of April. Thank you for your patience!

I do have to say that in the delay time I was gifted some potent endorsements from folks I adore and respect--Lynne Twist, John Perkins, and Toko-pa Turner and many others. So the universe has its magic.

I will share a picture of the cover (which I love!) as soon as I can. In the meantime, I will be off grid for the next two weeks and will return with the wisdom and blessings of the rainforest.

love to you all--and thanks again for your generous support!

p.s. there is still time for people to participate if they are moved--I am about $700 shy of my goals.....

Hi all! Happy New Year! After a hiatus for the holidays--I am back working on the book design, publishing process, and landing page. It's looking like publication date will be more like early February. This has been such a learning for me about the level of attention and detail such a project requires! Thanks for all the support --I will send out more details and a poem very soon.

All my love!

Happy New Moon of November!

It's been a while since I reached out, and I wanted to send an update on the Luminous Soul Poetry Book Project.

First of all--again, thank you to the 55 people who have supported this project. I am so moved and grateful.

And....if you feel inspired to contribute but haven't, you still can!

Just go to www.gofundme.com/luminouspoetry

So...here's the update:

I began working with a wonderful designer in San Francisco--and she is helping me really create a whole vision around the book Luminous--as well as a landing page for the book. So, things are taking a bit longer, the project has gotten bigger and wider and more comprehensive, and I think the results will be quite beautiful and inspiring. I am really looking forward to sharing this with you all!

And I am still hoping to raise the last $1000 to support the expanded work with her and the production of the book. We are aiming for a December or January release date!

I will be sharing more videos of poetry in the coming days and weeks.

Here is a poem to honor this holiday time--for me, a time of honoring the gifts of abundance that are in our every day world, no matter where we are.

I send you love and gratitude--and invite you to stay in touch.

Out of the empty vessel, the riot of the earth’s wild feast

layed before us, daily, in places we have forgotten

to look. In the veins of the leaf in the sunlit corner

of the room. In the depths of the tiger iris of the daughter

who has grown into a woman overnight. In the clear pools of water

where night animals bend down and drink. If we have any task

it is this: to live in this exquisite seeing, to clear our eyes

of the dust of memory and expectation that would leave us

blind to what we most long for. Even in the leanest of years,

when our bodies are wracked with grief, there is more than enough

beauty to feed all the species of this world. Take the Pleides.

Take Jupiter arcing west in the night sky. Take, the bees

that roll over on the flowers drunken with nectar. Take the globes

of squash and the sage brush in the russet hills. Take it all in.

For even in the bones and cinders of the old world

children reach into pockets for marbles and a man

gives another man his coat. Even in the skeletal remains

of fields gone fallow, seeds settle and germinate.

This cornucopia is what you have come for. This chance

to tend the life within and without, to give back

to that which gives, to be breathed one breath at a time.
