Luke's Lung Transplant Journey

Luke is one of the most outgoing and enthusiastic people you will ever meet. He lights up every single room he is in with his positivity on life , whether that be meeting someone for the first time, or enjoying time with his friends. Despite having an illness of this magnitude, he never allowed it to effect him in a negative way. Luke’s family and friends mean the world to him. His mom (Shari), his father and step mother (Brad & Nicole) have sacrificed so much to help Luke get to where he is today, along with his grandparents (Stanley & Marion) and (Brian & Lillian). Luke’s also a huge roll model for his little brother (Reece) and little sister (Kaleigh) who look up to him each and everyday. Luke was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was only 4 months old. Growing up, he never let the disease define him or limit him from his passions and goals, such as winning a National Golf Championship with his team in 2014. Luke can be seen holding the trophy in the photo above. Unfortunately, Cystic Fibrosis is something that overtime eventually causes total lung failure. Luke recently moved to Halifax , Nova Scotia in 2016 due to the fact that his health declined drastically, which means frequent long admissions in the hospital with his CF treatment team close by. Over the last two years, Luke has undergone a lot of medical procedures needed to prep him for the inevitable double lung transplant. A Port-a-cath was inserted in his chest for frequent IV treatment, a stomach tube for nutritional supplements to help him maintain his weight while being so sick, 3 sinus surgeries to prevent infection and increase airflow, and 4 bronco surgeries to flush out infections building up in his lungs. His big step is now right in front of him! To some people it’s a double lung transplant, but to Luke, he sees it as a second chance at life. The funds raised will go towards travel costs, possible long hotel stays in Toronto, and any medical costs that may occur.
