Luke's Fight Against Leukemia

Drago and Shanley Pavletic are loving parents to two beautiful children, Petra and Luke.
This past summer Luke, who was 1 at the time, started showing signs of discomfort and pain. It started with a stiff neck, and slowly progressed as pain in his hip and arm. He had many hospital visits and consults with pediatricians, but after four months of ongoing tests the cause of his symptoms was still unknown. In late October he was transported to London, Ontario for further testing and on October 25th, Shanley and Drago experienced every parent’s worst nightmare. Luke, who had just had his 2nd birthday days prior, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
Luke’s initial chemotherapy treatment was started almost immediately following his diagnosis, and Shanley and Drago have been by Luke’s side in London since. After several weeks of treatment and another round of tests, Luke’s little body hasn’t responded to the chemotherapy as well as his doctor had hoped. As a result, his treatment plan has been modified to be more aggressive.
Luke has a very long and difficult battle ahead, and with his new treatment plan they will be required to stay in London for longer than anticipated. This is not only challenging because they are away from their daughter, Petra, but they are beginning to feel a financial impact. We ask that you please consider donating so they can continue to focus solely on Luke during this time. Our hope is to help provide financial support for their family during Luke’s continued treatment, and of course, more than anything we hope for a full recovery for sweet Luke.
