Launch of the campaign "Live longer through laughter" in support of Ludlow Fringe Festival.
A key point of recent research by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing, was that ‘The arts can keep us well, aid our recovery and support longer lives, better lived’.
With this in mind the Doctors, staff and Patient Participation Groups of Portcullis and Station Drive medical practices are launching a campaign to support the Ludlow Fringe Festival. We feel the festival has a wealth of opportunities to bring people together for shared experiences that enhance the emotional health and general wellbeing of our patients.
The Fringe not only provides laughter, music and theatre to the town but has also created opportunities for vulnerable members of our community. Last year the Fringe connected with Ludlow Foyer, involving young people living at Marstons Mill in the planning and running of events, as well as providing them with valuable work experience and life skills. We feel this was of enormous benefit to the residents of the Foyer.
We believe that a happy town is a healthy town and that it is important Ludlow Fringe should be able to continue to entertain for years to come.
The funding which is currently available, although welcome, is insufficient to guarantee the long-term survival of the Fringe, we are concerned that if funds are not increased we are in danger of losing the Fringe Festival
We would like to raise funds in order to assist the organisers of the Ludlow Fringe Festival to continue and potentially expand the Festival role in promoting workshops and specific activities related to mental health and management of stress.
If each patient in our combined practices donates just £1, our target would be reached!
Please give generously to enable The Fringe to continue making the Arts come alive in Ludlow!
Many thanks
